Hi all, “Well where does it all end” Just started getting back on my feet as some of you know my dad is in hospital, it’s a long, long story. He has one leg and although two arms only one of them work due to the other being screwed together due to RA and Osteoporosis. He’s 89 years old He broke his arm in a fall at home about a month ago now, he was kept in hospital because he cant self care despite the fact that the family look after him but I think that was a good decision as soon as his arm heels he can come home. However last Thursday he had a scan as he has been complaining of chest pain. They found a tumour in his lungs, They sent for us on Friday so that he could be told with family support. He did not take it well but is slowly coming to terms with it. Today I visited him at 1pm till 230pm He had no teeth in it seems he has lost them I want to scream and shout. at 4pm I received a phone call My dad has been moved to a private room as he has MSRA. Tell me it cant get any worse please, I’m just about coping and feel so ill. Cant get my dad out of my mind and keep bursting into tears. We should have a prognosis some time this week
However Dads so frail and weak, his memory is bad and he is hallucinating because of all the meds hes on. He has suffered so much these last few years. Ill get back onto the forum and let you know any info when I get it. If you pray and have a God please send a prayer our way.

Dear Colin, I'm not religious, but I do truly hope things get better for your dad and for you. He has such a lot to cope with, and it must all be a terrible worry for you, and of course you have your own problems. You are a very strong person and I know you will stay strong for your dad, but please remember to take care of you as well.
Wishing your dad and you well,
Numpty0 -
I'm sorry, Colin. It sounds dreadful and you must be frantic with worry. (((())))If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Oh Colin, my heart goes out to you. It's so dreadful to see a loved one suffering so much. I went through it with both my parents, so I know how helpless it makes you feel. I hope that your Dad pulls through the MRSA and that they can make him more comfortable.
You are in my prayers.

Oh Colin what a lot of awful things happening to your Dad.
I hope they have also found his teeth as he still has his dignity.
I can only hope the support of his family will be of great comfort to him.

Oh Colin
My thoughts are with you. I hope your Dad doesn't feel too isolated in a private room. MRSA should be wiped out if everyone followed the rules.
As for the tumour it will be treatable. Let us know how you go on.

Dear Colin,
I may not have seen your posting but Elizabeth alerted me as she knows that my mum was in hospital for three weeks very recently and had to be moved to a side room because she had the bug MRSA. I never got to the bottom of whether she went in with it or not but she definitely had not been right in herself on hindsight for two weeks prior to the day she was admitted to hospital suffering with confusion and not being able to put a sentence together. She was in the side room for about one week after three days in the ward and during that time I did not recognise my mother at all. I was distraught. This happened three years ago too, not because of MRSA but an other infection and then more infections on top of the first on, the longer she stayed in hospital. I know that her circumstances are not the same as your dear dads, but I truly sympathise. It hurts/upsets the offspring so much to see their parent(s) so unlike themselves. My heart goes out to you and I hope your dad is receiving the best care possible.
Love and gentle hugs

Hi Colin I'm so sorry about your dad it's heartbreaking when we see any of our parents so Ill I used to be a carer a long time ago now, and I always saw that the patient had came home from the hospital with the mrsa other people might have had different experiences with it, but this is what I found. I will say a prayer for your dad and you Colinxx hope you get some time to rest as its no good you being bedridden.0

Everybody thank you so much for you support, just a little update
Dads got lung cancer and prostrate cancer. To think he ended up like this after going to the hospital with a broken arm. However on a positive note I spoke to the ward sister today and they are talking long term plans and getting him back home. Don’t quite know what to make of that My sisters would like a prognosis first but we are being told they will scan his lungs again in 8 weeks to see if there has been any change or growth in the tumour. So its starting to look a bit better for some future however long it may be. I’m a little stuck for words “ I know its not like me” so ill catch up with you soon once again thank you. I know many of you have problems of your own and its nice that you have taken the time to offer your support.

Thank you for the update, Colin, but you have more important things to think about than coming on here so please don't worry about updating us. We'll be thinking of you anyway.
I'm glad they're thinking in terms of getting your Dad home again. He must be a tough cookie. I guess it must run in the family. Take care. ((()))If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
