Quick question

Good morning everyone,

I hope everyone has had as much of a pain free night as possible? I just wanted to ask a quick question this morning.....when I had my appointment with my nurse last week it was discovered that whilst my RA is doing loads better (yay) that i actually have carpel tunnel in both wrists (boo).

The nurse was great as per usual and has very quickly organised for this afternoon for me to have some nerve conduction tests to assess how bad it it is.

So i suppose my question is, has anyone had these tests before? What should i expect?

Thanks in advance and I hope everyone has a lovely day today

xxx

    Good morning Pennycrayon :)

Sorry, I have no experience with this - just wanted to say good morning.

Great you could get an appointment so soon. I hope it goes well and that things are not too bad.

    Hugs P.

Hello, I had these tests recently and although they weren't that much fun they were OK. Sticky pads are attached at various points on your hand and forearm and pulses sent through - you twitch in response. My tests confirmed that I have carpal tunnel in both wrists (worse in the right) and at the moment I wear some working splints at night - they have made a great difference to how things feel. Good luck pennycrayon, please let us know how you get on, OK? DD

PS That's good news on the RA - I hope that carries on being the case!

Thank you both for your reply :)

DD I currently have the splints for both arms and I don't think they really make much difference for me unfortunately. And yes, I will let you know how I get on this afternoon :)

It;s typical though, you start to feel better and then something else crops up!

    xx

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. The tingling etc used to wake me in the night but when I'm wearing my Beige Beauties they don't. If I tingle during the day I put them on for a while and it eases. I guess I'm lucky that they help. I'll be thinking of you this afternoon. DD

Ho hum DD. From your beige numbers you'll progress to the black Daft Aiders! Once that median nerve is chomped, puppetry is the name of the game!

I had both hands 'done' 33 years ago and wish I'd left well alone!

Oh Cherrybim, what a shame it didn't work for you, I am so sorry. I was supposed to go the GP at the beginning of the summer holidays to arrange a referral to orthopaedics about this but because things have been better I haven't bothered. Right, you can all shout at me now 'cos I've stuck me fingers in me ears and I'm la-laaing like no-one's business. :D DD

They didn't tell me anything either, in my case the girl who did the tests was just a technician so she couldn't have anyway. I'll 'fess up now: I grizzled like an over-tired toddler during mine, I think it caught me on a low day. Do let us know what the rheumatologist says, yes? DD
