Hi everyone , hope you are doing ok and not in to much pain.
I had Rhumey appointment three weeks ago and was given a steroid injection in my bum. It has made a big difference , I feel much better and my joints have gone down a lot , i havent seen them like this for a couple of years .
I am due back in a few days to see the consultant and wondered if this will mean they won't start me on Methatrxate (sorry cant spell it ) The nurse said she thought they would start me on this if the doctor agreed , she thought it would help me .
It as been 15 months since i have been seen and suffered a lot with my joints and feeling ill ,(they had forgotten about me , thats another story) I would like to give Metatrexate a try .
I wondered if anyone knows what happens if your joints go down with the steroid injections . thanks for reading this , hope it makes sense . ....jillyx

It makes perfect sense, jilly, and, for my money, the fact that the steroid jab has helped will not mean the meth is 're-thunk'. From what I've read on here, it's now common to give steroids for some relief before a patient starts on meth. In your case the jab went very well (I love them too ) and that's great. However, these jabs only give short term effect so it won't be seen as a lasting solution.
I look forward to welcoming you to our 'meth gang'. Please let us know how the appointment goes.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I've been on meth for a while as well as oral steroids and the jabs. I think they will start you on it, you have a 'head start' thanks to the steroid so that should help the meth to kick in a little quicker (well, it would to my way of thinking!) Good luck, please let us know how you get on. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thanks DD , I do hope i get it sorted , i am so tired of feeling horrible and in pain all the time . I had my knee done at the end of last year if you remember ( i am the one with the chickens ) , I had hoped i would feel better but it just seems to move on and make my other joints worse, my hip is now starting to drive me mad , i am not up to having it done yet, at least it will be my last large joint lol . Anyway thanks for advise. I will let you all know if they put me on it ...jillyx0

Ah, I totally get the feeling horrid and being in pain thing - me too. I still have at least another two years of this to go, in my darker moments I dream of turning up at orthopaedics in 2014 by which time I'll be a stick-thin 55 year old and telling him exactly what he can do with his shiny new knees. How are the chickens? And your OH? Is he still working away as much as he used? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
