    Hi Sharon

I didn't read that trilogy - far too shy

You could look on amazon - look at their 100 bestsellers and they will be listed - similar books seem to dominate the bestsellers list at the mo  .

    Good luck

Badly written books are widely available nowadays. The ability to skillfully employ vocabulary, develop a plot or give in-depth characterisations is no longer a pre-requisite to budding authors so I'm sure you'll find much more to read in that genre, the copycats are already appearing. Good luck! DD

Birdsong-Sebastian Faulkes, Valley of the Cave Bear-Jean Auel, the first task of a book is to move us, disseminating the author and their choice of words can come later?

The thing I remember about Birdsong is the song of the birds as he emerged from being buried in the tunnels of WW1, peace and the end of war had allowed the birds to be heard.

Personally I found 50 shades boring and had to stop reading it as I wondered if the author had ever employed an editor, and then I found out why...it originally started as fan fiction for Twilight and was adapted to use 'original' characters.

If you do like the style here is a website with a few suggestions:
