Hi
After waiting not so patiently for the surgeons secretary to ring me back as promised after speaking to him about my labral tear in my right hip. I received an appointment in the post today for 4th October.
A bit of a wait, as I cried all the way home from work yesterday with the pain. No sleep last night, much clock watching and pill popping. But, i have an appointment so thats good. I am due to see my GP on Monday too and will see if theyhave any ideas to tide me over.
My new boss was concerned about me on Friday, and asked if I should be at work. I am going to try to keep going as long as I can, as I want to save my sick time in case I need surgery.
Roll on 4th October, I think.....

I’m sorry you’re in such pain, NB, and I do hope the GP can help. It’s to your credit that you manage to carry on working and good that you seem to have a caring boss. I’ll be there on Monday. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi
Thank you for all your support and promises of pocket duties, much appreciated xx
I saw the GP today. She examined me, ouch! And said we`ll increase your codeine by separating the codeine and paracetamol. Then she did some calculations and siad, nope, you are on the top dose! So she has added Tramadol to my list, and said see how I go re driving. If it makes me drowsy, and therefore unable to work/drive to take the coco`s in the day and tramadol in eve/night. Not done Tramadol before, but have heard mixed reviews re side effects. I will give them a go tonight.
I have my 1:1 with my manager tomorrow, and expect her to ask if I am really ok to work. (she asked me twice today!!) I will have a good talk about workload etc..and see how I go.
Thanks again x

Hi Nearly,
Pocket duties assured flower and it's only 3 weeks..... I know it would have been good to have it nearer and quicker but with luck they will help you on the 4th with at least a plan.
Glad your seeing about work load... I really feel for you and hope things will become easier and less pain as well. ((((( ))))) and so many hopes. Cris xx0 -

Hi
I thought I`d just let you know how my meeting with my manager went.
She is new to our team and didn`t know all my history in detail. I think she was a bit taken aback by my tale of woe! Then she asked me how I am managing with my pain/labral tear in my right hip/and the workload. So that`s when I blubbed. I promised myself that i would stay strong, but lack of sleep and icreased pain has left me a tad emotional.
Anyhoo, she asked if I wanted to reduce my workload, be office based (although she did warn me that if this went on for too long I would risk being deskilled and need retrainning to keep up with PREP ). So I said I would carry on all duties but with some aspects reduced, where it would require bending, kneeling, lifting etc.. However she made me promise to let her know as soon as I couldn`t cope with that. And we will review it after my ortho apppointment.
I have started the tramadol, mainly at night with quite good results.
Day off today and pouring rain. I think I will have a day indoors then!
Thanks for all your support xx

That sounds a little more encouraging, NB, at least she is trying to show some awareness and understanding about what is going on with you. Make sure you get as much rest as possible today so that you can deal better with what tomorrow has to offer. Take care. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
