Today has been a funny old day, one minute I'm up the next minute I'm down, I ask myself "why, what's going on" usually I can find an answer but today no answer was forth coming so I'm asking you lovely people if you have any ideas? I know this wretched disease can cause depression which I can testify to, but this *no where land* is happening more these days and I don't like it. I was singing praise to Cimzia the other day and now I have pain in my heels, the bit before the instep...if you know what I mean...and I seem to be waking up with sore hands....goodness knows what I do with them in the night!...Could this be a sign that cimzia is wearing off?

Oops, Perhaps I should have put this in the other room

The 'up and down' thing is, I think, perfectly normal with a disease that is so unpredictable. As for the Cimzia and your question of 'Is it wearing off?' I honestly don't know. I've never had Cimzia or any other med that had to be injected or infused so I don't know how they behave. Sometimes any meds can become less effective though. If this is a one-off for you, it could be that you've overdone things a bit or have some mild, underlying infection. If in doubt, I'd give your rheumatology helpline a call. They're the best people to advise you. Our expertise lies in 'tea and sympathy'

    Hi Other Numpty,

Its nice to see you again. Just wish you were not having a rough time just now.

The feeling up and down... oh most of us seem to get that one sadly... I know I do and of late the down been bigger than the up but better days are always round the corner and no road is straight for ever.

I don't know if that means the drugs are loosing their effectiveness, it might be a flare up and the drugs don;t stop those but do make them 'lighter' as shorter. With luck it will soon pass and the pain and tiredness etc will retreat again and you will feel better.

It might be worth asking you gp or consultant though as maybe the dose can be adjusted?

hang in there flower and it really is nice to see you again, Cris x

I call it the arthritis rollercoaster. One day we're soaring towards the skies, the next we're plunging at varying degrees of incline towards earth. Atmospheric pressure has a role in my moods - I intensely dislike low pressure weather and as for windy days when you can see the backs of the leaves - ghastly! A blast of sunshine always helps but, let's face it, that can be a rare commodity in this grey, drippy isle of ours.

As so many of us can testify arthritis grinds on regardless of what meds are being thrown at it. Give me my OA any day - I know where I am with that (creek sans paddle springs to mind) but the devious auto-immune beast that lurks within? Grrrrr. DD

    Hi Numpty

I read and understood your post from personal experience - not of cimzia, but arthritis....

I too have felt quite 'down' this week - I blame it on the change in the weather affecting my spirits.

I hope the cimzia isn't failing for you. Hopefully (my) fingers crossed - it's not and the extra aches will settle for you very soon. Having said that - in your shoes I would give it as long as you can cope and then get back to your rheumy nurse for advice.

    Love hugs and hope

Hi Numptynora, I know some days are alright and others are scrapping the bottom. It's your mind putting everything in a blender feeling, your down due to pain cropping up here there and everywhere on your body and you can't see a way out of it, your upset because your putting stress on your partner and you hate doing that. And other things all spinning in your head and you can't find the stop button! Am I right? All you can do is find something to keep your mind busy. Hope you find a way to get through this.

Hello every one, Thank you so much for your replies, you are such wonderful caring people, I'm not used to telling people how I feel but yesterday it was either talk to you or explode, I live on my own with my cats, (imagine an old lady with a shopping trolly and cats being trollied around, well that's not me  ) my neighbour is kind but she's away this week, maybe it's because subconsciously I know no one is there. One of my cats is ill so I had to take him to the vet, after taking my car for an MOT, to get there I had to drive through Bristol on roads I didn't know so the stress levels were a bit high! any way my cat has to go back tomorrow morning ( I DON'T do mornings!) for blood tests, thank heavens she says it should be treatable :D The moods are still there but not as many swings today. I'm going on holiday in a few weeks and I intend to relax.

Thank you all so very much Numps xx

Do you think that might be a slight understatement, Numps??? I would have thought you've had enough stress this week to account for all the stuff you posted about. Sometimes we're hardly aware of it until it eases up a bit.

I hope you manage the traffic OK again tomorrow, that the vet's verdict is good and, most of all, you have a great RELAXING holiday :P

    Thank you SW :)

The vet is local to me so shouldn't be a problem and thinking about it you are probably right about the stress :|

I intend to do absolutely nothing on holiday therefore it should be very relaxing :D

I'm tired and not reading things too well but I gather you've had a tough time viz the car and a moglet but you are hoping to have a holiday? I hope you have a lovely time and that the rollercoaster levels out somewhat. Take care. DD
