MRI date...

So, there was still nothing in the post from the hospital about referrals for pain clinic and MRI and when I rang my consultant's secretary, lovely lady who does get answers and action, she told me I was seeing him again on the 10th October and that he hadn't referred me to the pain clinic yet as he was waiting to see me after the MRI. She then gave me the number for the MRI department and they told me I was booked to go in on the 17th October. 'How does that work then?' I asked in a kind of breathless (in wonderment!) bewildered manner...'Er, yeah...it doesn't, let's see what we can do.'
As the complaints department also want to see me and were happy to wait until I knew these dates before booking an appointment I rang them and explained the strange order of affairs and pointed out that it was a prime example of the frustrating experiences I have had with the hospital...
To give fair praise where it is due, within a couple of hours the MRI department rang me back with an appointment for 28th September. When I asked how long it would take and what they were scanning she asked me to pick one hand and one foot as 'what was happening in one would be happening in the other'
*stunned silence*
My joints are all painful, all of the time! Sometimes some are worse than others but it varies from day to day, as it does for a lot of people on here...
Small wins, I suppose!
Tomorrow I aim to phone and ask my GP why she prescribed sirtraline (to block pain receptors) rather than amitriptyline given that she has also prescribed tramadol.
Thank you for all the useful advice and info on here! Nic x

It sounds like things are happening. Good luck with the MRI and subsequent appointment. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks everyone!
Hope to get a bit of action now, it really shouldn't be as hard as it is though, especially when you are knackered and tired but there you go...
Having a very good day as I didn't do too much yesterday but I can already feel that just a few hours at work today is starting to grind. Luckily customers don't mind me perching on a stool while I serve them!
Had a lovely meal with my brother and his wife, first time they have seen me going through a flare and using the stick but they were ok. Curry and wine takes your mind off it all temporarily!

Ah, indeed Toni! Food therapy...I've noticed that the tramadol has dulled my appetite a little though. Food is one of the greatest pleasures of life for me....:)
I am about to go to work after I have been to the allotment to feed chickens. I have a good friend coming to help me though and she has been very supportive over the last few years - she has vitamin D deficiency leading to aches in feet, hands and knees so does have some understanding. I have a couple of big sales during the year where I open up the top studio of my shop, the place I usually use to hold workshops, and fill it with old linens and fabrics. It's good fun and my other friend brings along her gluten free wares to sell!
I will be resting tomorrow though and will let OH spoil me with a bacon butty...
Hope you have a good weekend too, Nic x0 -
I'm glad you got the appointment sorted - when I've needed an MRI I've alsways stated I'll take a cancellation (I'm lucky, I live near the hospital) and I've never had to wait longer than a week. Have you had one before? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thanks Julie!
I haven't had one before DD but OH has and a lady in the shop today said visualisation helped her.
Just pleased to be getting something done! Need to decide on which is worse now, left or right...:-/
