well people been to new GP and when i go i always have a list of "things"

today it was my stomach, much ignored. i got examined and yea he says well i cant see through your skin but i am sure of ulcer or two.

yip i say, i know and probably contributing to my weight loss my feelings of eternal sickness, my inability to eat etc etc

but i "need" my diclofenac i say to him (and me) otherwise i will be in more pain as they are so effective in reducing inflamation...

no he say. you wont die from the pain but you are ill from lack of food and nutriets and hence this aggravates your RA and an ulcer well, it could perforate...if you have one.

so anyhow i knew i had one and now its dihudrocodeine and paracetamol (taking already) and two lots of lanzoprosole to fix my wrecked guts.

who knows, i might put on some weight, develop better muscle tone and have less RA pain.....just by curing an ulcer or two!

It makes perfect sense to me, Earthspirit, that, if you've not been getting sufficient nutrients, for whatever reason, you RA will be worse. This happened to me when I tried a very restricted diet that was supposed to cure RA. It didn't. I got worse.

Ulcers are no fun. Despite the lansop. always take all your meds with food - just a handful of grapes or a plain biscuit will do. NSAIDS are notorious stomach-messers. I was told never to have them again. Which is fine by me as meth and hydroxy do a much better job
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

thanks folks. ive been ignoring this as RA is so dominant in my life.
    poor guts got ignored.

i told gp no no no to camera down my throat. he says barium xrays old fashioned and not that good. i tell him i have ultra sensitive palate and nobody putting camera down my throat.

he says oh you can have sedation and say no it aint happening. cut my throat if you need to but nothing is going down it. the end lol

he says there is something new. some pill that "explodes" as it goes past the throat and coats everything. i said ok i will try that if i have to. ok he says. take extra lanzop for couple of weeks, come back and if you feel better with no diclo we will then think how to proceed.

i knew it was ulcers - coffee **** salty meat fruit juices tomatoes garlic fatty stuff lumps of cake - was i kidding myself that this garbage wasnt harming me? yea course i was lol

ive been losing the inflamation and the pain has been increasing with dry joints so perhaps not taking diclo will allow the joint catiledge and fluids to do their own thing and so maybe less pain too.

more pills isnt always the answer people but we know this dont we?

COX 2 inhibitors were the alternative for me when diclofenac messed my guts up. Been on them for years now, not a one side effect to report! Good luck with it all. LV xx

I've found over the years that ignoring stuff doesn't work, no matter what the 'stuff' may be. As a result the reparation of said stuff becomes far more difficult. DD

I’m so cross, why oh why do Dr give Declo and Naproxen without lanzoprosole my GP is a prevention rather than cure kind of chap, he gave me lanzoprosole years ago and the advice was take the lanzoprosole first allow 30 mins t oan hour than take your other meds this allows the lanzoprosole to coat the tummy, strangely when I was being discharged from my TKR the pharmacist came with my meds and spoke to me about the lanzoprosole and he said the same try to take it before the other meds to avoid ulcers.
    Good luck with the examination

Diclofenic wrecked my stomach too. I had the camera down throat thing with no sedation - never again! Double dose lansoprazole 30mg x 2 per day for a month or so sorted the problem out. I will never take ordinary NSAIDS again after this horrific experience. Cox 2 all the way! Those lansoprazoles certainly did the trick for me and I now take one 30mg pill every day as a preventative measure.

    omg!
3 days without diclofenac and the back of my neck felt like a bag of raw sausage meat and my hands like squishy rubber balls! had to call the sunday doctor who insisted i go to see them but told me to just take single diclofenac prior to me getting there. well it worked a bit.

i was seen by 2 doctors who looked at all my treatment i have had, discussed the situation and why methotrexate wont work for me. they gave me some more steroids to take but to wait 2 days eating lots of food and taking lanzop.

they both reckon most of my symptoms are coming from lack of food and the damage done to my stomach rather than being directly RA related.

this trip today is now going to greatly speed up new rheumatologist appointment and they both said steroids at least over a month or two is likely to be more beneficial than the dmards etc

just about to have a huge take away and start on this mission to cure my belly and put on some weight. i do feel for all of you who are stuggling to keep weight down to help your diseases, but when you get scrawny and thin it is truly awful cos you dont even enjoy stuffing your face anymore.

i am determined to put this nasty arthur in his place or at least make him hide himself for a little while :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Apparently we are what we eat so our poor, beleaguered bodies should benefit from good quality, fresh food. Don't stuff too many take-aways, they are renowned for being rather unhealthy when taken in quantity, get the fresh veg in, fruit, decent breads, fish (something is nagging at me that you might be a vegetarian so I hope fish would be permissable as the oily ones are good for greasing our bones - allegedly) and I hope you can gain some weight. Right, it's wine o'clock. That helps weight gain, and, being a fruit-based refreshment, counts as one of my five a day. DD

dd i aint no veggy! i am a meat eater and one of those people who likes lots of fish and meat protein. the more i eat the better i feel. with the current stomach problems and sick feelings which were attributed to RA i havent been eating much of anything

ive had a whole lifetime of healthy eating and being superfit. when i got lax with that i got ill. there is no doubt at all in my mind that the severity of disease/s i currently suffer from are very well connected to the wrong types of eating o rpure and simple lack of food.

i think that food has a big part to play in how our diseases affect us and correction of the defect in our diet can go a long way in helping us feel better, even with conditions which will never go away totally. the problem is, each of us has individual dietary needs and it can sometimes be difficult to work out the foods we really need and those we should avoid. healthy foods can create havoc for some people, such as those who are allegic to eggs or orange juice,

vegetarian? that would be like cutting off much of my pleasure in life lol
