Could be. Could be lots of things, gizmogirl. But we're not docs and can't do diagnoses. I'm afraid you'll have to get it checked out with someone who's qualified.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi gizmogirl and welcome to the forums from me :D

If it is hurting you/stiff or swollen too l would really suggest you go and see your GP.

    Good luck

You may be developing Heberden's nodules. Although it's a very fancy name it really means arthritic fingers, named after the chap who first wrote up about them.
The tendancy to lumps/nodules on fingers if your not elderly is usually a genetic one. Do you have anyone else in your family with similar fingers?
You need to see the doc and get them checked out. If painful you will be given suitable medication.
Sometimes 'they' decide to operate but this is usually only if the digit is causing a great deal of problems.
As said by others this is not a diagnosis just a possibilty. Get to the doc and get a proper diagnosis, at least you'll know what it is and be able deal with it accordingly.
