Went to physio on Tue, happy with bend but she did say my muscles are very tight and shortened from my many months in plaster over the years and with my knee not being straight pre op it was going to be either a very long process or may even need surgery to tweak some of the muscles and tendons :o , anyway she gave me an exercise to help get my knee straight and after doing it again last night I woke up early this morning unable to bend my knee  , phoned physio who said I have more than likely overdone it (typical me !) and to ice and rest till its better :| , so its on the sofa for me ! x

There's nowt wrong with being on the sofa, it's where I spend quite a bit of time. I sit with my feet up, legs well-supported and a pillow under my knees as they no longer lie flat (I still have the grotty original joints). I also do my post-surgery exercises on a regular basis in an effort to help keep my muscles as strong as they can be. Don't be afraid to rest, it gives things time to settle. I do a little bit, rest a little bit and that generally gets me through the day. Take care. DD

PS I forgot to say it is very easy to overdo things, we've all done it from time to time.

Thanks both :D , I have been stepping it up these past 2 weeks and I just think its too much , I think with my consultant appointment looming (19th) I have tried a bit too hard on getting it straight  , my partner feels awful because the stretch is done by him with my leg up in the air , not his fault obviously but he is upset for me now . So cups of coffee , tv and jelly babies for me ! :D x

Plenty of time to go before you see the consultant, pegleg. Little and often is what I've always been told. No gymnastics required. Any black jelly babies left? And, have you seen the ones I sometimes pop in with friends' presents? They're called 'Jellyatrics :)

I'm sure we will Julia , I suppose 8 weeks post op is nothing to the year-18 months that we keep getting told , I'm just frustrated that I was doing well., Got surgeon app on Wed so he may be able to put my mind at rest and (hopefully) tell me its all par of the course ! . Hope you find a way of keeping your pain controllable , I used to take Gabepentin they were very good xx

Oh pegleg! We all do it! We want to get our selfs back to our best (whatever best is!) and we try and get ourselfs mobile and do exercises that we are given, and finish doing them and say to ourselfs 'oh another 10 will be alright, get better quicker' So we do that and we think to ourselfs that was easy I feel ok still, 10 more and that's it! So we do a last 10, and we think oh I feel that this time, means are muscles have had a good workout! Not the truth, that you have over streached yourself and you are going to feel it in the morning!!
A lesson to be learnt there!
