Dear everyone,

just a quick post to apologise for being absent from here for a few months. I hope I haven't missed too much, I'm just catching up on posts now.

I've had a busy couple of months - It was my daughters 21st birthday so took her away to a spa for a long weekend....it was so nice, we've decided to make it an annual trip. Then it was my in-laws golden wedding anniversary so we had to go to visit them for a weekend. We also had my dads 70th Birthday so spent a weekend with him. I've had to sit exams for a degree course and I've changed my job. To top it all off, I've also had an RA flare which left me bed bound and having to roll out of bed in order to get upright as I couldn't get from lying down to a sitting position without excruciating neck pain. My OH has also been ill and has had to go into hospital for kidney scans .... they found some abnormalities on both kidneys and on his liver but haven't told us any more than that yet so just waiting for a GP appointment to find out whats going on.

On the plus side ....... all of this has made me lose over 2 stone in 8 weeks :o My GP isn't too happy about it and will probabaly start fiddling around with my meds now which will probably cause another flare.

Please assume my presence for any pocket duties while I try to catch up on posts.

Cheers
Jan

It's lovely to see you again, resusjan, and I've glad there have been some fun 'reasons for absence' in among the much less fun ones.

It sounds as if the flare might now be under control but the weight loss sounds quite alarming. You're not on leflunomide, are you? Someone else on here had that problem with it. It seems rather too much, too quickly. I guess worrying about your OH won't have helped either. I do hope the 'abnormalities' are small ones and easily dealt with. I shall be thinking of you both. Take care.

Thank you all for your replies.......very kind of you

Stickey - Yes, I'm on leflunamide with methotrexate and plaquenil. It probably is the lef thats caused the weight loss. Not too sure what to do cos I really need to lose weight but probably not that quickly!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone, hubby will be going back to the doctors this week to get results of scans so, hopefully, everything will be easily sorted.

    Cheers all

    Hi Jan,

Totally sympathise as had the same with rolling off the bed stage in life and lost 2 stone in 8 weeks. Did you also get any sickness? I found I was sick a lot usually came on suddenly so would have to use the nearest available sink or toilet or sometimes my own clothing!

All a distant memory now as humira sorted me out.

I think it's 7worlds who has the lef/weight loss problem, if you two want to compare notes.

Good luck with the scan results, Mr Resusjan.

    Hi Jan,

Nice to see you back and glad that some of it was for good reasons but wish it all had been.

I think your right that its not really the way to lose weight and hope that it will settle or be sorted for you.

Fingers crossed for you husband, I really hope it will all be sorted when he see's the gp.

Really is nice to see you again and take care. Cris xx
