just been reading about this think called spondyloarthpathy Entheishis.
it can come and go
seeing as this is my 3rd time and its worse
1991 hadi 2005 had it took me 12 months first time to get rid
18 months second time to get rid
wonder if this will just go in another 18 months
the injection dosnt seem to be working to that great extent although hand a bit better this morning not as red with inflamation but ive still got weird knees and feet even though i whent for a short walk this morning and i was tightening a bolt on the bike last night and i thought i had sprained me wrist with the ligaments
now i know this little thing attacks the ligaments at where they start on the bone
wonder why i get inflamqation at the sites of these things dosnt say on net
anyone else out their with this
whats everyones thought when i see the knee specalist again tell him ive been to see anoter rumi and what if he wans to rip into the knee should i say yes?
didnt have it in me wrists and hands before conceled itself to my knees and ankles.
regards john

I'm not good on backs, MINKA, but, as for the specialist, if you are seeing a knee orthopaedic man, he's very unlikely to be interested in wrists or hands. They don't usually offer to operate readily so, if he does, be guided by him. I see no reason why you shouldn't tell him you've seen another rheumatologist.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hello John,
I also have this pesky condition as part of my RA.
This condition is usually associated with various types of rheumatoid arthritis. Psoriatic Arthritis is one of them. Do you have psoriasis? even a small amount? Anklosing Spondylitis is another.
You mention that you've seen a Rheumy. So I presume you've either been told you have the rheumatoid factor or you haven't.
The symptoms do come and go and as you get older the periods when you are incapacitated get longer I'm afraid. The reason you get so much inflammation in flare ups is because the area is inflammed! The continual movement and slacking of the ligaments upset the tissues etc; round the joint and the body is repeatedly trying to repair it.
Physio and joint supports can help as can medication to treat the symptoms. It can affect any part of us. Wrists, feet and knees are the usual sites it starts to show itself and can happen at any age but more likely as we get older.
It is devilishly hard to deal with and treat, like all arthritic conditions.
As to an operation, a good clean out, tidy up of the bone if necessary and sometimes tightening of the ligaments can help. However the nature of the problem tends to mean that it can return.
You are best to research the surgeon that would do the op and then have a good chat with the him/her and make sure he/she tells you how they think the operation will improve things for you and what is your most likely result.
I have had lots of operations and the truth is some have been very successful and some haven't. It all depends on your personal condition and the surgeon who is operating.
Hope this helps a bit. Someone else is sure to reply soon I'm sure.

    spondylarthropy....

i thought it was to do with 'chronic rheumatoid conditions'

So....it might come and go Minka as do a lot of autoimmune arthritises if you are lucky.

John - I tend to agree with soretoe that neither specialist should mind that you have seen another. Far better that the knee doc knows what the rheumy thinks before he 'rips into' your knee.

Do let us know how you get on

    Love

rumi factor was negative within the limmits
fbc was just over in some of them.
this kenuloge injection i think has made verry little diffrence in 5 days i think me systems said and you can bog off to im not stopping here.
but as ive said before hhad it twice before and mended but not as good on that left knee ive always thought that knee has a ligament damaged on it some how other rumi said without looking at it oh you mri showed patella tendonitus
well how come the knee specalist said only medial ware in inside of knee no other damage but then mri i belive dosnt show enything.
other funny thing is im getting used to the wistling in me ears and why my gums in my mouth should ache a bit i dont know.

    Minka

Lots of us get a Rheumatoid factor which is negative - or blood results 'within normal range', but have obvious swelling stiffness and or pain.

Some people find the jabs take up to 2 WEEKS to work so fingers crossed there is time yet....

The gums and whisltling - write that down so you can tell teh rhematologist next time you see him/her.

well thats good i still live in hope.
i maybe thinking ive wasted me money but i may not have
bum still sore when sit on it feels like me bottom bones on each side are pinching me skin
knee and ankle still sore this morning even when i freed them of a bit walking up and down the garden.
last time i was pulling back around this time a bit.
he said its like climbing a mountain john you may be half way up or nearing the top to come down on the other side
feels like i get worse at night before bed.
why i has come all over the place instead of staying in me knees i doint know this time

Those 'bottom bones' are your sacro-iliac joints (I think they are the joints that attach your pelvis to your spine) and mine hurt all the time. It's horrid. You may gain some relief from the kenalogue, it doesn't work overnight for some and I hope you soon start to feel some benefit.

As for the enthesis (is that right? I cannot remember!) my PsA casues damage in that area (it's where the muscles attach to the bones I thnk) as well as inside the joint capsule with the synovium lining swellling with fluid. This blasted arthritis - once it's with you it stays. It has to be one of the most unwelcome guests in the world. DD
