Hi everyone,
Thanks for the support. If you couldnt hear properly  the result is that I DO have spinal stenosis.
He was very thorough. Went for 3 x rays while standing as well as the MRI he had.
Idiopathic, degenerative spinal stenosis.
He talked me through the options....Operation.....very high risk, he laughed and said they book 2 beds for that....one for the patient and one for the surgeon afterwards
We ended up agreeing that I would try nerve injections to start with....L4 and L5 on the right side and see how that goes.
I'm booked in for 3 weeks today.....quite impressed at the speed

Love
Hileena

At long, long last you have an answer - what a relief that must be. I'll be there when it's injection time, I promise. DD

Like most of them.....he says swimming....I cant swim and dont like swimming or trying to :D but I suppose I better.

    Dear Hileena :)

Life is manic for me at the moment but in a good way and I had to reply to your posting. :D

I too am impressed with the speed of how things are progressing for you regarding the injections and the care you are receiving. Where do you live again?:lol:

Love your sense of humour too. Life is so much better if one can laugh. Don't you agree?

Good that an op is not on the cards for you and I wish to add that if your injections help you as much as mine did on 3 November 2009 in L4 and L5 on the lefthand side for me, you will not be disappointed. :D

    Love

    H Hileena,

I too am impressed at the speed they doing you at... do you want a lodger :lol:

Flower in 1987 I had (ell it might have been '88 actually but one of them) a full decompression that took the disc that had bent my cord and also widened the canal to sort out the stenosis....

I have never looked back and the risks though there and actually i think they said my odds where 1 in 2500 doesn't 'work' meant that 2499 did work! Mine was 60 % successful according to the surgeon BUT it gave me back my legs and so my life....

Pain wise .... It was excruciating for the first 72 hours but mine was complicated by the wound becoming infected as well.

Now the last MRI I had a couple of months ago showed the decompression still hold good after all these years so well I would have surgery again on my spine at the drop of a hat IF I trusted the person who was doing the op.

Not sure if that helps and leaving a ((((( ))))) and tea which is def in the special mug. Love Cris xx

    Hi Hileena,
that certainly was a good, positive appointment.
I'll be thinking of you when you have your injections.
I know just how you feel about swimming. I can't swim, and don't enjoy trying to, but know it would be a good thing to learn.
I wish you luck with everything.
    All the best,

    Hi hileena,

So sorry to hear about your back problems! I too am having lower back problems that I thought were to do with my bad hip, Doc is sending me for an MRI to rule out anything else!! I'm very nervous about it in case they tell me I have something else!! :(

I've been going to an Aquafit class for a few months now at my local swimming pool and I am noticing an improvement in my muscle tone, which can only be a good thing :)
I find just swimming really boring, but this has been such fun that I've carried on going each week, happily!
Good luck with the injections! I hope they help and don't hurt!! ;)

Sorry I’m late but I’m glad that was a good appointment and I hope very much that the treatment helps a lot. I shall be ready for pocket duties.

Emsjane – Good news about the Aquafit classes. I hope the improvement continues.

    Hi Numpty
I'm glad I'm not the only one feels like that about swimming {or sinking  } Everyone I talk to seems to enjoy it and every blinkin doctor advises it.
I cant swim, but am not scared of water...just dont like it. I can lie on my back and float and thats it....not in a straight line  everyone else has to get out of my way
My husband says he'll come with me so that might drag me into going. Left to my own devices ....it would come to the day i was supposed to be going and i would make excuses.....he probably wont let me

I just love the doc who gave me the injections. :D:lol: They have lasted from that day, the 3rd December 2009 until present day. YAY! Mine were done for awful sciatica that I had suffered with for one year. I do not think they can say how long the injections will work for, on individual patients, but hopefully you will be like me. :) I do stretching exercises practically daily since the injections which are good for the lower back. That may have helped too.

Thanks Elna..hopefully they will work as well as yours. I know different strokes for different folk.
This Back specialist apparently has his own physio team {not the one in the hospital} so hopefully after i get these I'll be told or advised what to do.

    Hi Hileena

I do hope so and if you can get some exercises to continue to keep up the good work of the injections, that would be perfect. :D
