Hi all, not posted for a while but I have been lurking with interest!
I have a diagnoses of sero neg arthritis, mainly in my ankles but all over during a flair.
My question is does anyone else have muscle pain and swelling of the lower leg but not actual joint pain? It's also painful to touch.
I am currently on Naproxin twice a day and I am going onto meth next week.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hello, it's nice to hear from you again but I wish it was for a better reason. I haven't had this and it doesn't sound right but if this were me I would be making an appointment with my GP to see what he has to say. I wish you well and I hope you can get this sorted soon. DD

    Hi Mark,

I started to get muscle pain all over but mainly lower legs earlier this year. I started to worry that there might be something else wrong with me! My lovely GP said that it was likely that it was swollen joints bruising the muscles and that was to be expected given how inflamed they were. It has calmed down now - just bog standard pain with a few days of bad hips and carpal tunnel chucked in for fun!!!

Saw my GP today and apparently I have an infected leg, probably caused by low immune system after the steroid injection. Funny how you blame any pain or swelling on arthritis when you should really see your GP.

I am now on anti biotics for 10 days to clear it up.

Also had a call from the Rhumey nurse today and my appointment has been moved back 3 weeks before I go on meth. that just gives me longer to worry about it!

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Please don't worry, that sounds like good advice to me. When I began meth my hospital told me to stop it at the first sign of infection, be that sneezing, a sore throat, a cough or anything else amiss. As meth suppresses the immune system any infection can really get a hold before one is aware it's there as the body does not produce the right symptoms at the right time. It's good you went to the doc and that you have some anti-bios. I hope they sort out the trouble and that you can start the meth as planned - so get better soon, yes? DD

I was going to suggest cellulitis or an inflammation.
I see you have been and had it checked out and got some antibiotics.
Sometimes the site of the injection can let a germ enter and start up the inflammation.
Hope ou feel a lot better soon. Joy

    Back to the docs tomorrow.

Been on antibiotics for over a week now and no change, still very painful and swollen. Only 2 more days left so I think I'll get it checked out again.

hi mark, i have seronegative arthritis too.
arthritis would just be the joint, although i get slight swelling around the joint, but no where else. muscle pain would be something else. maybe you werent on the right antibitoics for the cellulitis? hope u get it fixed.

I think that's a good decision, Mark. Summat's not right.

Hello aimer66, I am so sorry that the anti-bios aren't cutting the mustard. I hope you can get to see the GP soon and yes, maybe another sort of anti-bio will be the answer. Good luck and please let us know how you get on. DD

Seen the doc today (I like that EMIS system - means I can get an appointment that day) and have another 2 weeks of a different antibiotic.

She seems to think it is cellulitis (sp).

Hopefully it will do the trick.

Cellulitis can be nasty - a couple of my friends have had it and it was far from pleasant. I hope the new drugs do the trick and you feel better soon. DD
