pc conked out on me,got that fixed ,then couldnt find the site  but now Im here.
Update:- right knee still not moving, in fact getting more painful but have an appointment with consultant tomorrow so lots of questions for him especially ,can they tell by xrays that knee joint is right size especially as they aren't taken while the knee is moving? Do you think this is a silly question or not.
I need him on side as my solicitor's orthopedic consultant says my knee looks ok by xrays and as I signed disclaimer havent got a leg to stand on .....lol ( no Ive only got 1 good leg now) but told solicitor ,thought you couldnt get any operation without signing that...you don't expect to die or finish up with complications do you.
So tomorrow need to find out if the knee is fixable at all or has my 1st surgeon basically ruined my life. Will let you know how it goes.
Eileen
Hope every one else is doing ok

Good Luck Babytiger i hope your new consultant can help sort out your knee.I think x ray only shows that replacement is in correct position or not if it has moved.I have not heard of replacements coming in different sizes, thought it was a case of shaving bone away till it fits. You have every right to ask questions after all it is your knee.We all have to sign consent forms for any operation that does not mean we have given up our rights to expect a reasonable outcome.

    Hi Eileen

I feel so sorry for you with all that you have been through post knee op. Of course everyone has to sign before an op or we would not receive it, but that does not mean that we accept without a fight that if it has not gone well, we suffer and live with it.

All the best for tomorrow. One of the post op problems that can occur is:

Loss of range of motion can occur as a result of excess scar tissue forming at the site of the surgery. The rigorous physiotherapy sessions following total knee replacement surgery help to break down this scar tissue, so encouraging the patient to attend therapy sessions and do follow-up exercises are critical to recovering complete range of motion. It may be necessary to manipulate the knee under an anesthetic to regain full range of motion.

In my opinion, xrays will not show up why the knee will not move as the knee is static when they are taken.

I sincerly hope you get some suggestions as to how to rectify the situation, from this appointment, you have been left to suffer without good help for far too long.

    Elna x

Thanks all for the thoughts.Back from hospital and there's no infection in knee but he thinks after nearly a year I should have more movement ( boy, its not for the want of trying )
He wants to open me up again to have a look
    a) see if I have adhesions
    b) see if joint is loose or not generally working
    c) another new implant
He has put me on waiting list which will probably be beginning of next year and if I change my mind, there's no hassle
but the way I look at it my knee isn't geetting any better so he can't make it any worse.
Its just the thought of going through all that op,pain etc again /

Hello again and welcome back. I don’t think your question about the TKR is silly. They do come in different sizes and I suppose (but I’m only guessing) that if you had been given one that was the wrong size, you might have problems with it. If the joint has shifted position it will definitely show on an x-ray. One of mine did eventually, hence my knee revision.

I hope it is ‘just’ scar tissue. Judging from the info that Elna found, it does seem likely, given that you were, as I recall, very much neglected by the physio department after your op. I hope you will emphasise this. It might be that the surgeon did a perfectly good job but that that was compromised by poor aftercare.

P.S. Just seen your new post, Eileen. I think that's good. Not really something one would want but probably inevitable if that knee's going to get back on track.
