Went to see the consultant , another different one but he was lovely , said it was still very early days and he was amazed at how well I was managing , he said usually when people had got an ankle fusion on the same leg as a TKR the ankle usually starts to play up but mine is still the same , pain free and causing me no trouble :D , told him about my pulled hamstring and that I had lost a bit of the bend until it heals but he was happy with the 90 degree's and said to ice and rest more than exercise , he explained that the straightness was going to be a struggle , he had been looking at my past history of my accident and all my xrays , the muscle loss and shortness is an issue as to how much bend and straightness I can manage to get , he's asked me to come back in 2 months and signed me off work for another month and given me Solpadol to take before physio , he also suggested Hydrotherapy , but we have none in our area that I can get to ! so I'm thinking of buying one of those inflatable spa\hydro pools for the garden :D x

That sounds very good, pegleg, especially the bit about the ankle. It's a shame there's no hydro near you as it's very good therapy. I'm not quite sure about the hydro pool. How warm is your garden?

    Hi pegleg

well done you :) Sounds and excellent follow up appt. He seems pleased enough with you I think - I hope you are pleased too?

I would think the bath might be better than a pool in the garden - you might catch pneumonia instead  Brrrrr!!!! is there really nowhere near? Are there any brine baths you could go to? Or even your local pool might have a kiddies bit (usually warmer) sometimes they'll let you go in there.

    Love

smashin app sounds like a dr with a brain :o more thought with longterm recovery than how far can you bend now, I was starting to think my dr was a lone voice, keep resting and exercise gently

Wow, well done to you, Pegleg, that was a good appointment indeed. I think it highlights just how individual we all are with our arthritis and what it leads to: there you were, thinking it was not going well and then you're told the opposite. I found when I was recuperating from my synovectomies that I was not the person to judge my progress because I was right in the middle of it all and couldn't 'see the wood for the trees' - it was outsiders (and occasionally 'im indoors) who would spot the progress I was making. Keep up your steady, good work. DD

Thanks all :D , I decided to phone my physio department and ask to be sent to hydro , the receptionist said she would phone back , and diddn't ! , and when I phoned back she had "forgotten to ask my physio" ! , got my physio on the phone who said she was really busy and would either try and contact them Today or Tomorrow ! , really fed up today

We do see our physios as being personal to us but they have a heavy workload - I hope she does get in touch soon but if not don't be afraid to politely chase. I hope it helps but please, PLEASE don't overdo it when you are in that lovely warm water. It is so tempting to think 'Oh I can manage another few minutes' but it can lead to all sorts of trouble after ( I know this 'cos I found out the hard way! ) DD
