GPS HIDDEN TALENTS

Hey all. Went to see my GP yesterday for some stronger pain relief as i have a very sore knuckle on my left hand that was giving me some serious gip lately. I dont go to the docs too often despite everything, and when i do go, i usually make do with a locum because it takes two weeks to see my own doc. By chance, i ended up with the man himself. He gave me the pain relief and i happened to mention that i was waiting for an injection into the joint after being referred by the rhumy. No, no, no, he said. Cant be having you waiting that long. He then whisked me into another room and did it there and then  :!: Turns out he worked in Rhumy for two years and was a bit of a dab hand with a needle and a dodgy joint. So that was it, job done just like that :!: I waited three months through the rhumy clinic the last time. Guess who i,ll be making sure i see from now on...

great news then,,,, im happy for you,,,
i spent months in agony under my local gp doctor prescribing me ibuprofen, (which i was taking anyway) i lost confidence in him and went to see a consultant,,

Thanks all. Will ring hospital tomorrow and cancel appointment. Maybe someone else will get seen a bit quicker since i dont need it now . Hey Hileena, yes i attend the Royal. And it can feel that so does the rest of the country because you can wait ages for appointments for procedures.

Well done you, my GP mentioned depo medrone injection into the base of my thumb and, by chance, one of the new Drs had spent a few years working in orthopeadics, so, the other Dr did it, spot on, worked a treat and is lasting well, great when they can do everything in house so to speak.
This post did remind me of a GP, who had even more remarkable powers. I was matron of a large nursing home, many a blue moon ago, one lady fell and I was certain that she had a fractured wrist, so I called the GP, who, over the phone, said "no, I don't think it is broken, give some pain killers"  I did say what a remarkable phone system we had, if it could send x ray results. I had her off to casualty as fast as you like and yes, there was the fracture, large as life. I took great pleasure in phoning him back. We never did see eye to eye after that. :xXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Hey Hileena. The City A@E has amalgamated with the Royal now. Can be a bit of a nightmare. Health cuts of course. Bubbles, youre right. The workings of the GP can be a mystery to us all.

Hi 7Worlds, that was a result wasn't it? I hope you have been resting that joint - my hospital have always instructed me to do just that for at least 48 hours to allow the jollop to really sink into the joint so it could ger to work. I dutifully did so and appreicated the three days of benefit which resulted. I hope yours lasts a great deal longer than that. Take care and let us know how it's going. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thanks DD. I have indeed rested it . Its been great being able to do simple things like hold a cup of tea and write my name Long may it last :!:
