Thank you everybody for the good wishes and a HUGE thanks to queenfan who is always there for the bad times.

I didn't want to say anything before I went off. I always feel like my problems are mine, even though it is nice to have the chance to share them and get a bit of support sometimes.

My RA is getting naughtier and naughtier. The inflammation in my heart has caused not just 1, but 3 different abnormal rhythms and I have been feeling dreadful and trying to get on with life with all this knocking, banging and nearly passing out for weeks going on inside.

On Monday I was in theatre for nearly 5 hours but the consultant hopes he has burned out the rogue heart tissue causing all the problems. I hope he has and I will be able to stop some of the wheelbarrow full of tablets I have to take.

Today I am home but feel like I have been dropped from a great height and then run over with a steamroller but I think once the anaesthetic after effects wear off I should be feeling heaps better.

I met queenfan on this forum and we are the bestest of mates now. Thanks, Sue, for all your support and the rest of you too.

    Much love

    an even creakier, creakyowl!

    Creaky,

I'm really pleased to hear you are home and the op is done. I hope you start to feel better soon, that all the nasty tissue got fried as your consultant predicted and that this is an upward curve now. BIg and gentle hugs and the very very best of luck for your recovery.

    LV xx

Dear VeryCreaky. I think I'm glad you're home though they do seem to be in rather indecent haste to get rid of you :) Your heart may have had problems but you yourself are a strong person and I have every confidence that you will emerge even stronger from this. I do hope so.

I was thrown out the next morning anyway!

I had a barking cough from intubation, was short of breath and had chest pain from the procedure but all I was asked was what time I was being picked up. It was 85 miles home and I had to promise Mr Creaky I wouldn't be sick in his car, even though I was getting a bit warm....

To be honest, the care was pretty hit and miss anyway at times. I mostly kept my head down and got on with it. All this talk of how it is better to be home in your own surroundings, bla bla bla.... I'm not convinced! I could have done with a bit longer, especially with poorly controlled, pretty extensive RA too. Worse, a rather patronising, citric night nurse said to me "well I have a bit of arthritis myself. We all do at our age" I contemplated what effect a left hook might have but realised it would hurt me a lot more than her and I risked dislocating my finger again!

Creaky was unimpressed by much of her stay and couldn't wait to get out. I also work in a hospital, I look after vulnerable patients and I'm pleased to say I don't behave like some people did to me.

40 love to creaky. !0/10 for the consultant though and very nice anaesthetist but sadly didn't get to see him for more than about 10 minutes before he rendered me unconscious!

creaky's luck never lasts long! Hey ho.

Thanks, Cris. I am just very happy anyone was even remotely interested in my troubles and am more used to having to get on with it myself! I have a couple of close friends but even my family just ignored my going off for surgery. It hurts a lot but that's how they deal with it and therefore so do I.
