hi everyone,
Got up this morning felt not too bad, into my 6th week of taking MTX, which at first knocked me about, but thought that it was getting easier. Me and hubby decided to take our cocker a little walk, and then we stopped at chippy for a bite to eat, then we had to pop to a shop to get some dog food, and i had this awful feeling while my hubby was in the shop like i was going to faint, i felt really awful and couldnt move as i would have fainted from the car to the shop so i was papping the horn but hubby must have thought it was someone else, has i never do this, and he didnt come, by the time he arrived i was in a right state crying and breathing fast, i was so bad on the way home he wanted to take me to the A & E but i got that bad we had to send for paramedics to come to the roadside, apparently i was hyperventilating and my hands had stuck in a claw like position, it was very frightening , i experienced something on a smaller scale when i first started taking the MTX. Luckily im due to see my rheumy nurse for my follow up tomorrow and the doc who i saw at the A & E today said that i should question the MTX , i really feel like i want to come off them, the way i felt today was just so terrible and frightening , has anyone else ever had similar.
Now i just feel so tired and drained like ive run a marathon, but at least im back home.

I've not heard of this as a side-effect of meth, Lynn, and thankfully not experienced it.
Two things come to mind. Firstly, it sounds a bit like a panic attack. Secondly, did you ever sort out the iron deficiency problem? Might there be a connection?
I hope the rheumatology nurse can help.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

My immediate thought was a panic attack too. Probably the MTX caused the initial fainting feeling, which scared you and then when you tried to get your husband to come back and he didn't it turned into a panic attack.
Good to get it checked out though in case it is all some sort of side effect.0 -
Hi there
Thanks for your replies, been to see rheumy nurse today and she said she'd never heard of these side effects caused by the MTX , but she couldnt rule them out so she has stopped them and asked me to just take the plaquenil on its own and has booked me an appointment to see the rheumatologist in 4 weeks. I must say i'm a little worried has in 6 weeks i have had 2 " funny " turns the latter one being the worst, i'm hoping its not anything bad, she said if it happens again go straight to A & E , which i will anyway, it frightened both me and my hubby to death.
sticky has far has i know my anaemia is okay now so my GP says, he has stopped the iron tabs.
Thanks Lynn0 -
If the anaemia is sorted that's one thing out of the way. Whatever is/was causing it all, I hope will disappear with the meth. With luck the rheumatologist will start you on something else and I hope it works with no side effects. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

hi sticky,
Yes i hope that it doesnt happen again, when i asked her about my other options she just smiled and said this is it, and then she said some dmard's name really quietly and i couldnt quite catch it but it didnt sound like a common one, i might ask her about sulpha if the plaquenil doesnt do too good on its own.
