Twilight Time

The hospital rang at 3.45am with news that she was very poorly and we should go. We got there just after 4. Her consultant came and talked to her sons at 9. The upshot is they are withdrawing the anti-biotics etc, just keeping her on oxygen and maybe pain relief if she shows signs of distress. Her organs are slowly failing, there is no more to be done. She has lost about 50% of her brain function and she has sunk into a coma. She didn't know we were there but we did. Mr DD and me came home at 11 for a rest and some lunch. He will be going back at about 3 but I'll stay here. I can't help and the joints are not behaving. Hey-ho. DD

    Hi DD

That's very sad, much love to you all. It sounds very similar to my Gran who died on Valentine's day this year. She was 98, had a stroke, picked up and then declined. She spent quite some time in the twilight time (a good description) and despite it not being nice to witness, she was always peaceful, as things go, that can't be a bad way to be. Good luck to you all in facing this time.

    Love LV xx

DD, it's not easy I know but hopefully you and your husband and family will get the strength to cope. Do look after yourself and get as much rest as you can, these stressfull times are not good for your condition.
    Sending big hugs.

Sorry to hear this DD. I hope that she is comfortable and at peace. They say that the hearing is the last sense to leave us, so I am sure she is glad that her sons are with her.

Thank you everyone, your kindness is comforting. They have moved her into a side room and taken everything away including the oxygen. Both sons are with her and I hope she is somehow aware of that. DD

    Big Hugs DD ((0))

Very similar situation to when we lost FIL in August, sad to see them slowly slip away.
People will often say "oh they had a good innings" if they are elderly relatives .......what a lot of rot that is!

    Bless you xx
