My Consultant has asked me to decide whether I want an ankle replacement or an ankle fusion for O.A.
Would love to hear from anyone who has had either please, as I want to make an informed decision.

Hi Chris
I am having a finger fusion done in a few weeks I have no option as they don't do replacements of the dip joints, I can understand how big a descion you have, one I wouldn't like to make, hopefully someone will come along soon that can give you advice all the best for whatever route you go down..........MarieSmile a while and while you smile
smile another smile and soon there
will be miles and miles of smiles
just because you smiled I wish your

Posting on behalf of OH who has an ankle fusion, he's in as much pain and been told that at 46 he's too young to have a replacement now but that they will consider it later.
Good luck with your decision and hope it works out well!

Hi Chris, someone, I can't remember who  posted quite recently, about their ankle fusion. I do remember them saying it was a great success, and they were walking, I'm pretty sure they said without a limp. Hopefully they will see your post and reply.
I have recently had a wrist fusion. I'm still in a cast, so don't know yet how successful it is. My consultant said that in his experience wrist fusions are more successful than replacements. Of course that's his opinion, and wrists not ankles.
I know it's a hard decision, and unfortunately it's one, only you can make. You are doing the right thing gathering as much information as you can.
I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do,

I found the thread I think Numpty was referring to and bumped it up for you. (Sorry, I forgot the numbers at the end of your username.)
One of my ankles has fused itself and the other nearly so. The fused one is brilliant. No pain.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
