Back from the hospital

Hi
I have had my appointment at Wrightington hospital today. It was the Registrar as the consultant was not in clinic today. He was nice enough, but hadn`t fully read my notes. Anyway, I explained what the problem is with my right hip. He examined my hip, had me balancing on one leg then the other, pushing and pulling my legs!! Ouch!!
He thinks I have a tear in my hip, but says my surgeon does not advise repairing it via keyhole, as it will make my dysplasia worse. So he has decided to arrange for me to be admitted to have an arthrogram, deep hip injection and manipulate my hip under GA. Then have more physio, again. (been having physio for best part of 3 years now.) My right hip is getting weaker.
I asked if it is just painkillers til it gets too bad, and he said he hopes the injection will help. I have had injections before and although they can help, it doesn`t last more than a few weeks.
I want to lose weight too, which will surely help, but am not able to do much exercise at the moment.
I feel a bit flat now after the consultation. I hope I snap out of it!!
Thanks for all your support xx

Hi NB, I'm not surprised you feel a bit flat. You get all geared up for a consultation, then find they haven't even read your notes properly! Is this injection the same as the one you had before?
I hope things work out for you, and you're not too sore after all that leg pulling.
    Wishing you well,
    Numpty

Ouch that sounds incredibly painful! I'm not surprised that you feel flat, bless you. I hope that the injection brings you some relief and helps to prevent any further damage. I hope you're not too sore either /gentle hugs

    Hi NB
No wonder you feel flat, you will be wondering what you are in for, hopefully your appointment wont be long...you try and relax tonight ..these appointments dont half take it out of you ,I had an arthrogram early last year, just to see what was going on and had the injections while asleep must say they did work, so hopefully they will for you xx

I hope the injection will help too, NB. I think the flat feeling after a consultation is pretty normal. Sometimes we gear ourselves up so much and invest so much hope in them. I hope you get a good result from the arthrogram and physio. As for losing weight - well, jillyb1 did it from a wheelchair so I guess it's possible. I just cut out all sweet stuff if I need to lose a pound or two.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi
    Thanks everybody xx
Barbara, how long did you find the injection worked for? And were you ok to drive soon after the arthrogram and injection? Work will be asking me if I will need time off etc..
