Shoulders are difficult, especially when it comes to sleepig as we have to lie on them. Can you sleep more on your back with extra pillows under your shoulders? That's all I can think of other than more meds.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I am so sorry about your shoulder Unsure,I agree its one of the worst of the arthritic pains ,I couldnt get my arm above my head this time last year ,it also made me feel very sickly ,Unsure in the end after about 6 months pain I had a steroid directly into the joint and follow up with Gabapentine for nerve pain ,since then absolutely no trouble just very occasional twinge if I over do it ,Good luck Unsure hope you can get some longer term relief soon ,Marrianne :)

I agree with this, the only thing I would add is to try and get the injection under ultrasound. I one by consultant in clinic and it did nothing but under ultrasound the consultant could see exactly where the inflammation is.

i really sympathise with you, I couldn't sleep more than 15 minutes at a time with my shoulder. Every time I moved the pain woke me up. It was agony. Couldn't wash, get dressed, get out of a chair. Nada. What are the plans to treat it?

I've found the best form of pain relief for me is general aneasthetic - I can't feel a thing but neither can I do much. That is the problem with the heavy-duty pain relievers, they can render one utterly useless. We don't realise how much we use certain joints until we can't use them with ease. The 24th is only a fortnight away and I hope the appointment goes well for you - the steroid injection may be an option as it will be six months since your last. As for the friend's girfriend next time you're all out together return the compliment by landing heavily in her lap. DD

Oh dear, I know just how you feel as for the last 10 months have had a Frozen shoulder (just to add to the OA). The pain has been unbearable at times and, like you, I have struggled to get any sleep. Did have some physio for it but they then decided that as it was still in the 'freezing' - i.e. painful stage - they couldn't do any more. Although it has improved, it is still very painful at times and I still can't lie on it to sleep. Hope you can get some relief soon.

It's good you now know what is wrong, and that there is treatment for it.
I hope you get your appointment soon.
    Wishing you well,

Hi Unsure. So sorry to hear your news. Do hope your consultant will managed to sort you out. I had a fall last week and just when I thought my frozen shoulder (which have had for almost a year was almost better), the fall hasn't helped matters and now in agony once again! Am about to phone surgery to try and get appointment with my GP to enquire about possible injection, but normally have to wait about 3 weeks to get one. Let us know how you get on. The only think I found that helped, very slightly, was warmth, and when it was at its worst, I laid a warm wheatbag on it. Take care. Beryl.

I really feel for you, why do we have to go through so much pain still in this modern age? Unbelievable isnt it...Hope you get sorted and soon as I know what its like, they have changed my meds 3 times now to try and help, only think that helps is the antidepressants I take on the night to knock me out. Good luck hun and fingers and toes crossed for you x

Wow that sounds really really painful! Hope the steriod injection helps and they can arrange at date for surgery soon. I like your way of getting a good nights sleep! That's one good excuse for binge drinking!

Hello unsure. Sorry to hear you have had such a bad night and do hope pain will ease for you soon. I've also had a very disturbed night. OA in back playing up more than usual following a fall last week and shoulder that has been 'frozen' for almost a year and was nearly better, has decided to rear up again (obviously as result of fall), so am feeling very fed up too. Seems we are suffering together! Take care. Beryl

On the plus side you know what's what. On the minus you still have to wait to get some help. I hope the ortho app comes through sooner rather than later. DD

Stock up on the dullers and think up more distractions, Unsure. It's going to seem like a long wait but at least there's a plan.

If it's a possibility I hope it will help. I know nothing about it and not much point my reading up on it as I've got two TKRs in

Of course  But, if that's what it takes, it's as well to get it done. I hope it makes a big difference.

Oooh interesting! Please keep us informed. For one of my THRs they transfused me with my own blood but I think it might have been connected with the AIDS scare. They didn't for my last op.

Glad you have a date for the operation, hope this will make a huge difference for you in the long run. Just got to get through the hard physio stage before that!!
