HELP pre op asess.

Hi Just had a letter from hospital saying they want me in oct.23rd for pr -op assessment. Does anyone know how long after this the op. usually is?

Its just the consultant said the op would be after new year and I have already told work I would be working over Xmas /New year this year ,also have no holidays left.

    It seems rather early for a N Year op. I remember juliepf had about 3 pre-ops for her neck as they kept running out past their 'use by' date. I think she went about 6 weeks each time before having to have a new one but this might vary from one hospital to another. The only sure way is to check at yours.
    If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    in our health authority the time limit is about 3 months, otherwise all tests have to be done again x

    Eileen my pre/op was barely a week before they need current blood etc this was for TKR Good luck though maybe if its sooner that could be better get it over and done with before Christmas .Marrianne :)

    Mine was expected to be about three months after the pre-op, but then they gave me a cancellation at two days notice. But I don't think there'd be any problem getting it in the New Year if they mention scheduling it for earlier, just the other way round which is a problem.

    Yhanks for the replies.
    Marianne mines is for another possible TKR, had one a year ago 3rd nov.2011 BUT went wrong but am gonna phone through monday and try find out thinks ,don;t fancy another op before xmas again

    Our NHS trust is either 6 or 8 weeks after that we have to have another pre-op assessment...this did happened to me when having my hip arthroscope..

    Eileen I know what your saying but its a good couple of months and this time they are surely going to be so gentle and top knotch surely still good luck on Monday and very good luck fot that new TKR .Marrianne :)

    Phoned Sheffield today.they had me booked for pre-**** in 2 weeks and the op december. I explained about work etc and they were lovely .I now go for pre- asessment beginning december and have the op in January

    Aw, that is much better for you isn't it? Well worth telephoning so that you now know where you are with dates for the pre op and op.
