I pull my nose

Literally. When stuff's hurting. I've only just realised this but I know I've done it for years. When I can't reach my nose to pull it (because stuff's hurting  ) I run my forefinger down the centre of it - not gently but pressing hard. I've no idea why I do this but I presume the slight pain it produces somehow distracts me from greater pain elsewhere.
Am I totally barmy or do other do equally daft things? (Please don't answer the first part of that question )

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

We know you're barmy so that's the first part dealt with. I leave my nose alone - when stuff is hurting I tend to press the hurty bit it to make it worse then it feels 'better' when I stop. I won't even bother asking if I'm barmy. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I don't know where to start  Lol
On the subject, does anyone know why we say the word ow when something hurts? It doesn't help, so why do we do it?
PS, I vote barmy all the way girlsMe-Tony

I pinch my earlobe and clamp my jaw shut to the point that I often end up with a really stiff jaw if I don't realise I am doing it. Madness but good to know I'm not alone in that madness!Hey little fighter, things will get brighter0

Well, thanks for that resounding vote of confidence in my sanity, everyone
I can't say the rest of you come off any better. DD shoves the sore bit, RitaW takes it out on her toes, villier and val on their teeth, LV on her ear and jaw and val on her hands, too. And who is the only (allegedly) sane one who does none of these things? The bloke. Oh dear! Will we ever live it down?
Tony, not everyone says 'ow'. The spanish say 'ay' and, when necessary, repeat it 3 times. It's more satisfying. Try it.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I hold the painful part, and do a strange sort of bounce.

None of you ladies is actually showing signs of barminess You are subconsciously employing acupressure techniques
How do I know? Well for 12 years OH and I were guardians to a wonderful Taiwanese girl. I still have an accupressure book, published in English which she bought me and on one of the pages for "eye pains/flickering of the eyes" for example, she's written "Cherry you do this every day, promise, love Yi Ling x"0 -

What brain?
Joan, you have more sense, and kindness, than the rest of us put together.
Cherrybim, why didn't I think of that?
Numpty, honesty compels me to admit that the barminess came first.
