If you are worried about setting off the alarms at airports because of metal work in your body, the free Orthocard is a small credit card sized, personalised card that is designed to inform professional individuals that you have metal implants. If you ever get stopped at the airport, just show them your card and yo will soon be on your way.

The free OrthocardTM is a joint Action membership card that has been endorsed by the Professional Practice Committee. The card will also act as an information point for medics, should you even be in an accident.

Just fill out a short form to apply and you will be able to have a little extra peace of mind. To apply for the card and for more in information please gfo to:

www.jointaction.org.uk

I learned this from a recent newsletter I received from the Scoliosis Association (UK) because I am a paid up member.

I hope this is ok to post as I feel it may be useful to certain members of the forum.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

I got one, and I'll try it out next month when we go to Madeira. However, I gather from a friend who has two replacement hips that it's quite unnecessary; replacement joints are almost considered as normal now. I'll let you all know hiow I get on.

It's really weird.... I 'always' get stopped at the airport & set off their alarms, but I have NO metal in my body....

Earlier this year after setting the alarms off again, I was then frisked, my bags searched and shoes drug swabbed....

    I felt like a right criminal.... :o

Needless to say "nothing" was found.... :D

I have been stopped the last 4years at the airport, it's becoming a running joke :) because my hubby & daughter have never been stopped, I have no metal in me, every time I set the equipment off, I'm beginning to think I'm not human :lol: Sue
