Hi,
I seem to remember that not all mammograms are clear because of varying depths of breast tissue- and it's good to know that they are on the ball and following things through to be sure.
Hope she gets positive results.

Hello Christiemay
I am so sorry about your Mum's letter and it must be such a worrying time for you both.
I have no advice or suggestions I'm afraid - other than to say have you looked at the Macmillan website? I think they have an online forum and a helpline - maybe you could post your question there, or give them a ring and ask if they have any thoughts on this.
Thinking of you - and of your Mum Christiemay.

Christiemay no need to apologise, easy to say try not to worry, an inconclisive mammogram can be due to a bad x-ray, a fold in the skin not all lump related(that came from a doctor). I got a recall three years ago I recieved a similar letter. On the day of the app in my case I first saw a nurse who asked me a lot of questions really to see what my frame of mind was, then along came the doctor who showed me a lump on the x-ray then proceded to do a biopsy leaving a titanium marker at the site of the lump, was then given another mammogram to show the site of the marker the whole procedure was totally painless. Two weeks later results showed it was fatty tissue. The percentage of benign results is very high which I can't remember sorry, I take it your mum's app is soon please keep us up to date with the progress, you know there is always a lot of support here Arthur related or not, chin up pet thinking of you and your mum.......tc........Marie xxSmile a while and while you smile
smile another smile and soon there
will be miles and miles of smiles
just because you smiled I wish your
day is full of Smiles0 -
Christiemay, I've got 'lumpy' breast tissue apparently. Always have a mammogram and they sent me for ultrasound too but only fatty tissue. Also remember my mother going through something similar and her lumps turned out to be benign. Hope it is nothing and try not to worry too much.0

So sorry to hear about your mum.
I've had two recalls for the same reason. One turned out to be chalky deposits and the other a benign cyst that was aspirated.
I was absolutely terrified , my friend came in with me and held my hand, so i know how you are feeling.
Afterwards we went for a stiff drink at a pub! Not something I usually do.
Try and think positive, most recalls turn out to be benign cysts or similar.
Thinking of you and your mum , take great care, Joy0 -

Hi Christimay
Of course you are worried and that is only natural. I received a letter after my very first mammogram to go to the hospital for another check. The result was calcium deposits and I was assured I would never be recalled back for that reason again. I have had quite a few routine checks since then and have not been recalled.
I hope it all turns out ok for your dear mum.

I was recalled after a mammogram twice and went for a scan each time. Once it turned out to be fatty tissue. Another time, it was a cyst which was drained immediately. I know it can be worrying but the chances are, it's nothing too bad.Christine0

Hi,Try not to worry....easier said than done I know but my daughter is always called back. Its better to be safe than sorry. We all have the breast cancer gene and we are tested every year and her call backs are never anything sinister. May0

Hello Christimay
As some of the others have said, try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know). Call backs can be for a variety of reasons and your Mum will be in the best of hands.

Hi thank you so much for your replies, her appointment is for we'd am she will be in all day as there are tests for am and pm your comments and thoughts were kind and so thoughtful, it's so reassuring to know you all are here you truly are kind caring and supportive people, I'm now addicted to this forum as it just feels like I'm among normal people like myself, who know 2 days are never the same. I'll be glad when we'd comes and we see what's what's my mum is convinced it's not good as she has been having a dull ache in her chest for sometime now and she thinks the two things go together, I pray to god she is wrong if not I know I will have a nervous breakdown, thank you all so much ill let you know what happens as soon as I can thank you all so much once again.xxxxxxxxxxx0

Hi Again
The reason its going to be all day is if they take a biopsy...this again is normal....she will have to wait for results. As for the pain your mum is having...I'm not saying she isn't but when we get something on our minds its difficult to blow things out of proportion.
I'm sorry I haven't worded this very well.I'll try again. For example I know by my bloods I have my cancer back again for the 4th time. I just don't know where. I'm waiting for scan results. If I get a headache I could sit thinking its a brain tumour. I'm actually looking for symptoms. Its my mind playing tricks on me.I tell myself I'll find out eventually which I will.In the meantime I just wait.
Its possible your mum is clear but if not something is being done and believe me after having cancer 3 times before its not the "nasty" it was some years ago.Try to be positive. It really does help and feel free to PM me at anytime.
I wish your mum and you a bundle of positive vibes.
May xx0
