Not been on for a while as I feel all I do is moan on here.
But today a bit of posative news!!!!!
Back in June this year, I contacted my local council to see if i could get an Occupational Therapist to come and see me. Out of the blue last week the phone rang and it was she. At first I hadn't got a clue what she was talking about until she mentioned help with bathing.
Anyway she came out and within an hour she had a list of things wrote down that would help me, and today they have been delivered. I now have a free standing toilet frame. Leg lifter. grab rail outside front door. Perching stool for the bathroom. Bath board and a Lift ease to help me get out of bed. I realy beleived she would be like DLA and say you dont need help. Still waiting for results of xray on pelvis that I had done last week.
I did ask if they could see anything and he said OA. I know that much just hope this shows why I am in so much agony.

Hi elsa56 I am glad someone got you some help, I hope the xray shows something that can be helped.
Best joke I ever read, "With that information and a diagnosis of spondylosis, your doctor can develop a treatment plan‏" or back in reality totally ignore you. Is ok I have a sense of humour and a boxing glove, not defeated yet.

Really pleased you got some help from a O.T, to have a good O.T in your corner is a really good thing! As for X.Ray results are they going to your G.P or your Rhummey? If it's your G.P you could get your G.P's secretary to chase them. My G.P's secretary does that for me. Now you can stop thinking your a fraud! :)

Hi Elsa 56. Glad to hear your news and hope all the new equipment will help you. I am being nagged by friends and family to enquire about a stair chair to help me. My view is that although I find the stairs a bit of a struggle, I can manage, and therefore don't actually NEED one as there are many people who need them who are more badly affected than I am. Everyone else is of the view that I ought to have one before I have a bad fall and damage myself more - I did have a fall on the stairs some years ago when I had a trapped sciatic nerve. I find coming down stairs easier but going up is certainly a lot more difficult and painful. Glad to hear you had such a helpful OT. Beryl

Well done, it's lovely to hear some better news and I am so pleased you shared it with us. Some years ago I was given a toilet frame and had some stair rails installed and so far that's all I need in the house. I do have a couple of suction handles I use when things are tough but I reckon the day for grab rails ain't far off! I hope all the new gadgets and gizmos help and that life becomes a little easier for you. I wish you well. DD

Finaly got my results back from xray and yes, in the last 6 months my hip has worsened. Now I have to try Tramadol for a month along with ibrupofen and Paracetomol and if this doesn't ease the pain Gp said Hip replacement.
And that nothing can be done to my neck and spine OA as its to dangerous to operate.
This GP seems to be alot more understanding and thorough than my last one, glad he took over when my normal one was on holiday.
Not got all my gadgets set up till monday when OT will come to help put them in place.
I was given something that looks like a horse whip with a loop to put your foot in and a loop for your hand so I can lift my leg up into bed and car without alot of pain. You would not believe that just one little thing could make so much difference..its brilliant!!
    Thanks for all your replys

Hi, newly diagnosed with OA of spine, awaiting an MRI meed to ask loads of questions and dont know where to start. Cant believe that what started as a dull ache on my left hip almost a year ago could end up with me being in so much pain, and restricted movement, I bit the bullet and bought a second hand mobility scooter so I can go shopping etc as I was just stuck in the house. Applied for DLA second time completed forms last night so lets see. Struggling with getting in and out the bath and even cooking a meal now, its the standing and when I cut veg my hands ache and feel like they are burning after. Can someone please give me an insight into this.

    Hi,

I have the same as you but i'm refusing the electric wheelchair untill i'm out of choices, at the moment i have a rolator 4 wheels with seat so i can shop and stop when i want.
I was diagnosed june last year and had my 1st mri in january which showed more problem's than a normal x-ray and i had a 2nd in september and i see my specialist 7th december for an update.
I get lrc and lrm on the dla so good luck with your claim.
