High blood pressure

A few months ago I was suffering with really swollen ankles so was advised to keep them raised, which is what I did but it had no effect at all I kept asking the Doc' if there was something I could take to get rid of the fluid but because of my meds there was nothing I could have, just keep them raised! well short of hanging upside down, nothing helped. In desperation because my ankles were so painful, (it felt as if my skin was going to split) Doc looked back at my blood results and it seemed that my albumin was very low, as a result of very little dairy in my diet, I have corrected that but now my blood pressure is rocketing.
Does any one have any idea what I could be doing wrong? I'm so fed up with it, it seems to be one thing after another.
Thank you

I doubt you're doing anything wrong, NumptyN, but there is obviously something amiss. I hope you will be seeing your GP again soon as he is the one to advise on this. Mine is high but I know that it's due to the humira I take for my PsA. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

This isn't something I'm familiar with, Numps. I can understand why your BP might rise as a result of eating more dairy products, though, especially if you've been eating a lot of cheese. It might help to stick to milk, yoghourt etc but really I think you need to go back to the doc. The fluid was/is clearly not something that is easy to live with and high BP is not a good idea either so I'd suggest another GP appointment as soon as you can.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

They reckon low fat dairy products can help lower blood pressure, as DD and SW said think it's time to get back to your GP Numps.........tc........Marie xxSmile a while and while you smile

Thank you for your replies, my BP will be done again when I have my bloods taken at the end of the month.
Is anyone else fed up with having a needle stuck in them every month? 'cos I am. :roll:Numps x

Hi NumptyN,
I think maybe it's all part of the mad medical journey we're all walking. Like you I've just been diagnosed with high BP and it's a bit mind blowing, but for me the worst part is the thought of yet more medication to add to the 18 tablets a day I already swallow- you do start to wonder where it's all going somedays .
As for blood tests, I was fed up with the monthly blood tests, till I started weekly gold injections which came with the added joy of weekly bloods too . Well the gold didn't work so it stopped as did the weekly bloods, so back to a monthly bloods regime and it seems like a treat-I guess every cloud has a silver lining if you search hard enough!
Hope you get some answers and some relief soon. Take care.

Hi Numps
I tend to agree with the others taht it HAS to be back to your GP.
The only other thing I will add - is be careful not to knock them as the skin - when taut - can be quite fragile.
Love and luck

Hi, Some blood pressure medications can make your ankles and feet swell and a change to a different one can make all the difference. Also protein in the blood is often associated with the medications effect on the kidneys. Don't be alarmed, had it lost of times in the past.
My consultant found a bp medication that suits me well and recently I've been a lot better.
You need to have a chat with the gp, as the others here have said and get it sorted out. It's probably nothing that you could have done anything about but needs medical advice.
Hope you find an answer soon and feel better. Joy.0 -
Hi
I've just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and the tablets she gave me...one of the side effects is swollen ankles,,.,,,,luckily I havent had that side effect,
Deb was it you said about taking more tablets? I take loads as well but just think of it.....high BP is a silent killer.....if we have it we are lucky it has been found. It can be treated, Some people just have a heart attack or something else without knowing they had high BP....thats what I'm trying to convince myself anyway
Yes I'm sick of needles being stuck ion me as well
Love

Hello lovely people and thank you for your replies, been feeling a bit down so haven't been here for a few days.
Thanks for the hint about cheese SW, I'll cut it down to see if it helps.
I can't have water tabs because my kidneys aren't working properly, so that's out.
Next Thursday I have an appointment with my consult', he's the one I have more faith in so will go with a list of questions!!
Thank you again
very p###d off Numps xNumps x

My hubby had problems with swollen ankles on bp tablets, but since changing has been much better. It can sometimes take time to find a tablet to suit you.
