Hi All

Im still recovering and still have wobbly days...Yesterday I felt like my throat was closing up and my head was like cement, had palapitations....It was a panic attack and I had to sit for a bit with my parents near me as was frightened if I closed my eyes I wouldnt waken up...It felt so horrible....
I am doing exercises religiously and the bend is getting better although we cant measure it but have a board with a doughnut and the doughnut goes more than halfway up the board so think its better...I can only margianlly lift heel off board and it is tiny but again is happening....Cant do straight leg lift yet of course but the effort is going in....Dad comes with me and we make sure im not too tired but we do 10 of each 2 - 3 times a day...Also managing 3 walks round the cul de sac and been to Asda today.....Can manage to wash my own hair as we have a perching stool from Red Cross whcih is a godsend.....
My progress is tiny and small, my leg is still so bruised and swollen so thats still hampering things....I just hope and pray i can manage to progress good enough not to need that manipulation operation......My walking is good im doing it normally....I have times when I laugh from my belly at doing silly things and other times get so fed up its not true....Have had 2 good nights sleep and still congested up but managing...

Thanks to everyone who has posted on my "Home But What A Journey"...post

Elaine, You should be proud of yourself your doing amazingly well! I remember the doughnut and the board from Phyiso and the straight leg lifts! I also remember that baby steps are better than getting no where! So you keep up the baby steps your doing great! Don't keep putting yourself down! Look at everything your being able to do, the doughnut, walking round cul-de-sac and walking round Asda! That's brill!
I have a shower stool it's amazing I don't know how I would cope now without it!
Your doing so well! baby steps will win the race!

It must have been so frightening with the throat and head and palpatations. As you know I do get the closed throat and you can feel like you are blacking out and then that could have bought on the palpatations. It should all be part of the after effects of the operation and the 2 blood transfusions. Hopefully your body will start to adjust slowly and you will feel much better but until then just take it easy as possible but keep up with the vital knee exercises.

    Hi Elaine
Good to see you are home. Sorry to read of your experience in hospital. i hope that you are on the slow road to recovery now xx
Be kind to your self and give yourself time to heal. It is good that you have your parents with you when you are feeling panicky.
    Take care xx

Had staples out today and nurse said it looks a good clean wound...There is a tiny bit at bottom she is erring on the side of caution as it has older bruised blood at side of it and dressing has been changed but if this one gets wet with newer blood will need to call back.....Nurse is coming back on friday so hope it stays dry till then....Had more walks out today and done exercises, got physio tomorrow at 9am....
Getting a bit better got great support with mum, dad and sister...Brother and gf also sent flowers and coming in a weeks time to help....My dad joked that he is run ragged and he would rather have a newborn baby as it sleeps for a few hours and he gets respite!

Been to physio this morning at local hospital. She was amazed at how young I was and what id been through...Got given the exercise to let leg hang and push back with good leg and hold it for a few seconds....I now have 80% bend which im happy with.....I will get there as she said with ice 3 times a day and exercises.....Still cant lift heel or leg up but that will come although my leg wants to turn inwards which is a bad habit possibly from walking badly beforehand.....
I am getting there, had an early night last night at 10pm sweated something rotten and keep tryiyng to cross legs over in bed as side gets sore!...
