One person commented on FB that they are printing this out and taking it to their next GP appointment, hoping that at last they get an an answer to their back pain . :)

Very interesting Elna, thanks for posting. I had sacroiliac joint pain about 6 or 7 years ago, agony beyond belief. Cleared up with anti inflammatories but makes me wonder......

Hi Elna and thank you very much for this. My problems actually started with sacroilliac pain just over a year ago and this was confirmed by xray at my first rheumy appointment in May 2012 which showed inflammation in the sacro joint, some sclerosis and other irregularities. Unfortunately for me this rheumy left the hospital and at my second appointment I had to see someone else who totally disregarded these findings with a shrug of the shoulders and a "well" when I questioned her about the first rheumys findings and she diagnosed mechanical back pain, fibromyalgia and discharged me. This has led me to seek a second opinion of another rheumy at a different hospital and the saga continues. I was so relieved with the first rheumys findings and the fact that it all showed up on xray and actually thought I was getting somewhere and didn't feel like a "fake" because it was there on the screen for all to see. To get knocked back with no explaination as to why one rheumy could see a problem but a second rheumy shrugged and offered no answers to my questions was quite devastating. I will print this article and take it with me to my next appointment in december and hopefully get some answers and treatment which I desperately need. I am also haveing problems with mt toes moving constantly 24/7 which my podiatrist thinks is neurological, maybe caused by pressure stemming from my back or pelvis. I am waiting for an appointment to come through from the neurologist.

Rattled on long enough now  Thanks again. Dee x

I am so pleased this article has helped a few people. Some FB users commented it has taken 15 - 18 years for them to get a diagnosis.

Dee, I too get involuntary movement of my feet and legs periodically when at rest. This I have been told stems from my spinal problems. I am so sorry to hear that this is happening continually for you. You have my sincere sympathies.

I shall continue to add links from Arthritis Care that appear on my FB page. Even if only one person on the forum finds a link of interest it makes it worth while for me to continue to do this. :)

    Elna x
