It's been 8 weeks since my full, right wrist fusion. I don't find left handed living easy :x Due to twisted fingers, lack of grip and quite a lot of pain in my left hand, I am very limited in things to do  Add to that, my cataracts have become much worse recently, (I am on the waiting list for surgery) I can't read books, news papers or magazines, thank goodness for my Kindle, set to large print, but even that is becoming more difficult. Typing is a real struggle, walking even worse as I can only use one crutch now.
What I'm really after is suggestions of things I can do to keep me entertained.
I never thought I would say this but, I am BORED :o
Please help!!

You've been incredibly patient and good-humoured throughout this, Numpty. I'd have been tearing my hair out (the parts I could reach) not to mention biting the hand(s) that fed me. I don't take kindly to enforced inactivity. (I can still hear my mother telling me 'I can't means I won't' )

My post-op saviours are puzzles, online games. I use a free site which I'll PM you. There are loads of different games to suit all tastes (words, numbers, memory, spacial awareness etc) and most should be OK visionwise.

Other than that it's daytime TV but that's out as it's not the cricket season
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Do you like things like scrabble on line. I play on Facebook and it certainly keeps me occupied for a while.

    Might be worth a try.

Hi Numpty, If your a puzzle person the gaming sites are fine, you can even do Jigsaw puzzles on the computer now! With the Kindle you can read newspapers and magazines as well as books, which is so clever I think! You need to first think what your interests are and then think of things you could do that sprout from that. Thank goodness for technology it opens many doors for you!!

Oh Numpty, I am so sorry. You are facing complications on all fronts, yes? My mum is in a similar boat (aged 89, with cataracts, macular degeneration and painful joints) but has solved it by taking Tramadol and thus dozing for most of the 24 hours we have per day. I feel this is not a solution for you.

When is the cataract surgery due? Why am I asking questions when you are struggling to see and type? Smacked wrist, Daisy. If I have any bright ideas I'll communicate them in due course. DD

Thank you lovely people. You have given me food for thought. Bubbadog, I hadn't thought about getting news papers and magazines on my kindle.
DD, I don't have a date yet for surgery, they just said it would be the middle of November. So hopefully, not too much longer.
I've been training my dog. Trying to get her to do "tricks". She now rolls over on command, and stands on her hind legs. I think she's fed up with it though. She just wants to have a kip
You might see us on Britains Got Talent. We'll be, the one gammy handed, half blind, cripple, and the talented, but p-ssed off Westie.

Sorry to hear you're not doing too well at the moment Numpty. Boredom can be just as bad as being in pain and the time just seems to drag by. I know I don't always want to be looking at a screen, so sometimes I listen to an audio book or invite a neighbour in for tea and a chat. I don't know your circumstances, except for seeing your name on the forum, but are there any coffee or luncheon clubs you could attend. I know there are a couple in my area and transport is provided. Might be worth finding out.

Hi Numpty. Sorry you are having such a bad time and struggling to cope left-handed. It's so difficult isn't it. I had a fall recently and damaged my wrist badly so had to do the left-handed living. Got very fed up, not just with the additional pain, but the fact that I couldn't do my knitting, sewing, crossword/brain puzzles etc. Resorted to jigsaw puzzle which I managed ok and certainly helped to avoid me going up the wall with boredom. They're fun to do as well. I try and do puzzles of places I have visited which I find makes them even more interesting for me.I got a real sense of achievement when I managed to finish it and feel quite lost without it now. Fortunately, I can now manage to do a little knitting although have to be very careful not to upset my frozen shoulder! The things we all put up with. Do hope you will get some relief soon. Beryl

Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions. I certainly have a few things to think about/try now.
I spoke to my mum on the phone earlier, and mentioned how I'm feeling a bit bored. She told me to buck my ideas up, and that only boring people get bored  That's me told then
