Can someone please get a grip on them. There are currently 16 spam threads on LWA alone and it edges out all the people wih genuine concerns.

I completely agree with that Sticky. That was a real spate of spam this morning, wasn't it? Someone has reported them, thank you whoever you are, but this amount is unprecedented. Tighten some computery screws AC, please. DD

Make that 17 as I've just discovered another on 'Acceptance'. Plus Barry Victor, yesterday's spammer extraordinaire is still with us.

I messaged the moderators regarding the spams that where popping up, some where obvious others where not so! They are so evil to think they can mess about on AC forum and try and ruin a good thing, but we are on to them now and we're going to P**S on their Party!!! :x

Hello to our lovely members! so sorry your enjoyment of the Forum is being marred by the invasion of spambots. :(

We Mods are aware of the unprecedented numbers of spammers... and Ban them just as soon as we come online. with or without them being reported...

We have also raised the issue of increased spammers with our webmanager and asked that jamkit do something to block them registering :!:

We hope that you understand and appreciate that we Mods are doing all we can.....the Forum is as precious to us as it is to you.

We certainly do and your efforts are much appreciated.

I can't help but feel a lot of these could be tackled at source by the webpeople.

As an example, do we really need URLs? Most can be circumnavigated - ie 'Daily Tripe article on How Three Sultanas a Day Cured my Arthritis' doesn't need a URL. Anyone gullible enough to be interested can just google it. Or the poster could invite anyone interested to PM them for the URL. If no URLs were permitted, and this was stated VERY CLEARLY in the application section, most spammers would realise they were wasting their own time, which is clearly more precious to them than ours.

    That could cure it....we hope!!!
If jamkit stops them registering surely they'll just use other names to register and so on....I know they do that in the groups I've had....ban them and back they come with a new name

I've just read my own last post and realised I might not have expressed that well

What I was hoping for is that, on the forums themselves, it would be impossible to put up a URL because they would automatically be deleted at source/wouldn't 'take'/whatever. Or, maybe only the Helplines would have an 'enabling' key for them? (I write as a 'techie virgin' with no knowledge of how these things can/can't operate.)
