Tomorrow. At long last, after her wrist fusion. I hope it feels good, Numpty, and works well. Remember not to go swinging from the trapeze just yet. I'll be thinking of you.

Thanks for this Sticky, and to everyone who's posted.
Yes, at long last I'm going to be a castaway :D
My appointment isn't until 4 pm, so I think tomorrow might drag a bit. I will have to wear a splint for a while, but I don't mind that.
Oh to be able to wash my hand, I can't wait.

Today’s the day, Numpty. Go for it, girl. Let’s know when you’ve finally washed it and we can all take our nose pegs off.

    Hello Numpty

Really hope today didn't drag too much for you and that you are now "cast free".

    Thinking of you Tilly xxx

    Well, it's off :D
I got there at 4 pm, the cast was removed, I then went to x-ray. I finally saw the consultant at 6pm.
He said everything has healed and fused really well. I don't even have to wear a splint unless I feel I need to.
He wants to see me in two months, to talk about my next surgery. He suggests I have my left thumb fused next, followed by left wrist fusion, then right thumb fusion and replacement knuckles. So quite a lot to think about.
My hand's throbbing a bit now, I suppose it's because it's been messed about a bit
Anyway, I've washed my hand/wrist, it felt so good
I need to learn to use my right hand again now. It's strange, after all these weeks struggling to do things left handed, I now automatically use my left hand
Thank you all for your well wishes and support.

Woo hoo! She's back! With a clean wrist. And it's all gone to plan. I'm dead chuffed. I guess you can't really tell until it all comes off and the boss man checks it out but that seem to me to be a result in anyone's books.

It sounds like you're turning into a surgery junkie :o Don't forget the cataracts :)

I'm sure it will seem strange at first. When I had my first TKR, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, you weren't allowed to walk for 10 days. When they finally said I could, I couldn't. The ankle had packed in. (I soon got it going again though.)

    Ambidextrous, eh? Could be useful.

    Hi Numpty,

Sorry I missed your hand freedom day! Glad its now off and they are pleased with it. s you know mine are fusing them selves uo and there is some suggestion that a fusion would be better if they did it so .... they say it makes them stronger so please let us know

Leaving a bucket of hopes and a ((((( ))))) now that wrist is clean  Cris xx

    Ha ha!
I was able to put my jeans on today. After ten weeks of wearing joggers  harem pants and skirts. They feel a bit snug, but that has nothing to do with the fusion
I had a bit of pain from the wrist last night, so I wore a splint, but it's early days yet.
I hobbled to the village shop this morning, using my elbow crutches. That made my wrist ache again, but I guess it will improve with time. I'll just take it slowly, as the consultant said to do.
Right, where did I put my trapeze?
