Hi
Just a couple of questions for you guys and girls out there. Can anyone confirm the right way of taking folic acid with Methotrexate? The hospital told me just to take one 5mg tablet 3 days after taking the Methotrexate, and the doctors told me to take one everyday apart from the day you take the Methotrexate? Secondly, this is one for the ladies, has anyone found when taking either of these drugs, that it has completely messed with their periods, or is it just me having problems and it might have nothing to do with these?

It depends what dose you are on, but I always take the folic acid the day after the Meth.0

Hi!
I started off on just one folic the day after taking meth but had a reaction that meant a rather unattractive cold sore type boil developed between my top lip and nose - it happened so fast, within minutes! Rheumy nurse said it often happens with children (childish, me!) and suggested I take the folic for three days after which helped. If I forget then the tingling starts and before I know it, the boil is back!
My OH has noticed that my RA (or PsA - they can't decide....) is much worse just before my period so I think there must be some hormone relation to it all, maybe?! Haven't noticed any change in anything since starting on medication.

Hi Donkey,
I too am on injectable mtx {25mg) and 2 quinoric daily. I take only 1 folic acid the day after my jab. I have questioned this on several occasions and been told that as long as I have no side effects then 1 folic is enough. Everyone seems to be getting advised differently though, but as long as I am not suffering, then I'm quite happy! On your second question, I'm way past it!!! lol0
