High Barbara yes it is, it's only allowed for direct prescribing for MS here but you can get it if you import it from Canada with a special request from your GP that has to go to the home office I think, it's being used for Neuropathic pain and pain from OA and RA, It’s produced here and sold globally from the UK, but ironically it’s very very potent, it said to contains over 4 times the Delta 9 THC levels of normal herbal street Cannabis.
The way the law stand today is if you’re a citizen who lives in one of the multitude of countries that now allow Cannabis based pain medication you can bring it or any other Cannabis derived product including Herbal Cannabis here through customs and use it legally with no risk of prosecution from the Police or home office just so long as you have a current prescription with you, its lawful under the Schenegen Agreement, I just wondered if anyone on here had managed to obtain some lawfully and tried it?. Mind you at £500 a bottle it’s a tad expensive seeming its basically a concentrated Sativa tincture.0 -
Mell I didnt know it was that strong, how mad, that its made here but we cant get it prescribed for OA or any of the others arthritis.
I am off to email my MP, think he may be getting sick of the mathering I do but no one seems to be taking any notice...pain is pain what ever illness you have.. :roll:Love

I hope that nobody minds me bumping such an old thread, but as somebody who suffers from osteoarthritis (in my hands) I would love to know if there is any way that I can LEGALLY be prescribed this drug. My rheumatologist tells me that it's only available for MS sufferers, but as mentioned by mellman01 in this thread:
" but you can get it if you import it from Canada with a special request from your GP that has to go to the home office I think"
does anyone know if the above still applies, or maybe there is now an alternative way to legally obtain it in the UK?0 -
I've just bought some CBD Cannabis Oil in a health shop, made by a company called

I've noticed you can buy it online too.
You're supposed to put drops of the oil under your tongue for 'wellbeing without a high'.
The lady in the shop said it was being sold as a pain relief for conditions such as arthritis.
It cost £22 for a tiny bottle though, and I'm not convinced it has the right active ingredients to help pain.
It does smell like cannabis though.
The ingredients say 20 drops contains 1000 mg cannabis saliva (hemp oil) of which a 25mg is pure CBD (cannabidiol)
I've only tried using it once so far and not sure it did anything.....will report back if I learn more!0 -
Thanks. I didn't realise that CBD Cannabis Oil was legal to buy, and from doing some quick reading I'm still not sure.

But then again ..........
Here's a very useful thread on Cannabis Oil on a cancer forum:
https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cancer-chat/thread/cannabis-oil-4
According to the above it looks like Cannabis Oil that contains THC (the main mind-altering ingredient in Cannabis) is illegal, while Hemp Oil is legal.0 -
In addition to my post above, here's something to clarify the difference between Cannabis and Hemp (in short, Hemp Oil has far less THC than Cannabis Oil but both are derived from basically the same plant, just a different 'strain' I suppose):
