I went to dr's last week Wedensday) as OA was playing up, worse than in 4 1/2 years since being diagnosed ie when getting up from sofa felt as though leg was about to give way, stairs becoming problematic especially at work and more pain than usual. She said she was going to put in another referal to physio and I got a call at work yesterday morning to say they had an appointment for me with physio in the afternoon. When pyhsio was taking my/ family history what relevance would cancer in the familly have had to arthritis(was asked if anyone had had cancer) or is that just standard question to ask. Thanks.

    Hi MUM1
It might be a standard question, the only time I have been asked this , was a few years ago when I had to fill in a questionnaire for my GP.
Sorry Im not much help, I do hope the physio can do something to help.xx
    Love

Thanks for your reply barbara. I had physio when I was frst diagnosed and helped for a little while. Also physio done some manipulation with upper back it eased things a bit up there yesterday but can feel it creeping slowly back he also tried some manipulation in lower back and hips....but nothing gained there can only do exercises and keep fingers crossed. OA pain seems to be getting worse as each winter approaches is that what happens with OA.

    Hi MUM1
I do understand some of what you are going through, I am waiting to have some facet joint injection to ease the pain in my back then I will have to go on the list for my first THR.
Just a point have you ever been offered a steroid jab for the pain, I had one a couple of day ago and it seems to be kicking in...hope it last..

Hi barbera no dr hasn't mentioned anything about steroid jab. This is most painful winter I have had so far. I am better in warmer weather, it's still there but can cope better with pain.....feel like I want some one to give my leg a good hard pull.....maybe pop something back into place :|

Hello MUM1, I've been asked that so many times I think it is just one of the standard questions: I have both OA and an auto-immune type. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Hope the steroids work barbera. I will wait and see if things settle with co-codamol, diclofenac and exercise (have had tramadol but wary of taking them at work due to effects) and if things don't settle will go and see dr again.

Family history seems to be a normal thing to ask about at the moment.
I think its because people are becoming more aware how genetics affect people.Really I suppose its going to become pretty standard practice.
Nothing to worry about and at least its down in black and white just in case.
I hope you can get some pain relief soon.
