After the pain clinic {in a different health authority} where I could only access 50% of their services....I rang Mr Kasis....Back specialist...his secretary and explained the situation to her.....she said she would pass it on to Mr Kasis but he wouldnt be in until Fri.

She then put me through to Northumberland Pain Clinic {my health authority} They said I should have been referred to them and could have accessed 100% of their services. They also said that people from the Newcastle area could only access 50% of their services but that didnt apply to me. Ring my GP and query it.

I've just rung the surgery and asked for a call back...so its now 4.30pm Dont know when and if she will call but if she doesnt I'll ring tomorrow again. Why do they make things so difficult.????

Love
Hileena

Wow! You are getting messed around aren't you? I reckon your spinal chap might be the best bet to get things sorted. But I hope that you can get into the right pain clinic now. Hope your GP sorts it soon.

Sounds like you've been messed around Hileena, not good at the best of times, never mind when you're in such pain. I'd give the surgery a ring again early this morning and say you want either a home visit or a telephone consultation, that should get you a call if nothing else. Best of luck, try to stay strong.

    Morning all
Well I did get that call back from the GP....I shouldnt have been so sceptical
She said she didnt know any of that and would let the other doctors know about Northumberland and also let the receptionists know.

    My original appt was Tuesday,
I phoned the GP on Wed
and on Thursday I got another call back from one of the admin staff. She said she had been told about the pain clinic and had a form for me to fill in. I popped up and got the form but it was their half day so I filled it in yesterday {Thur} and am going up this morning {Fri} to give it to them.

Not sure what will happen from here........the form was 6 pages long ....asking about physical probs, emotional probs etc

Well, it sounds like it's happening at last, Hileena, and that's good. I do think your GP should have known about the different pain clinics and access to them (or lack of) but I'm all in favour of professionals who are prepared to admit to gaps in their knowledge. I hope you have a smoother ride from now on.

    Hi Sticky
    Update......
I took the form back to the receptionists this morning.
Spoke to the admin staff. They are going to post it off for me and they have made a telephone appointment with the Northumberland Pain clinic for the 27th Dec......so not sure where it goes from there....I suppose it depends on whether they have got the form or not by the time they ring me....hard to tell with the Christmas post.
I refuse to think anymore about it until the 27th

    Another slight update on this.
I had a call from the back specialists secretary.
She didnt know about the pain clinic appointment.
    She rang me to tell
me that Mr Kasis was making a physiotherapy appointment for me
Nothing to do with the pain clinic :D
So thats a physio appt I'm waiting for and a telephone call on the 27th Dec re pain clinic

    Hi
Another update.....I've got physio appointment for the 28th December.
That came from me ringing the consultants secretary and bringing her up to date with the pain clinic and asking her to pass it on to the consultant.
Its the same physio that I had before and we got on well.....he was the one that did the acupuncture as well.
So....here goes....maybe next year will be a bit better
