Ankle SOS

Firstly, Happy Crimbo AC friends!

I was walking along, minding my own business when my ankle went clunk which not unusual in itself. However, it is now stuck in a very uncomfortable position. I'm having to roll the foot outwards to walk. It's been a few days; ice, pain relief and my usual physio exercises aren't doing the trick. The pain has become worse and worse. Part of my foot is hot and tingly, another part is cold and a bit numb. Clearly, not a good time and no one to phone for advice.

Any thoughts on what I can do till I can speak to someone medical?

You can always phone NHS Direct at any time....sounds like you have trapped a nerve at least (they don't just happen in backs) and it also sounds like you need proper medical advice. I don't say this lightly but you may need to go to A & E as numbness is not good.... It may be innocent....well normal arthritis stuff.....but might not be. At very least, carry on with rest and elevate not "roll the foot outwards to walk"!!! GET HELP though

Oh no! Sounds not nice at all!

It's a trip to A & E that one, don't like the sound of that at all. Best to just incase.

Hope that you get sorted, and back to normal very soon.

    Good luck!

    Janie :)

Thank you for the replies. I felt too embarrassed to go to A&E (seemed too minor and not really an emergency) and actually, it clicked and clunked and feels better than it did. I doped up on co-cocodamol and walked around a bit today. I might ask to be re-referred to the specialist foot&ankle ortho because it's really not quite right, although not as bad as it was a few days ago!

You really should go to A and E for an xray Star
