Hi everyone, happy new year.

I have been on Butrans patches for 2 years now.

A couple of weeks ago, I had an upset tummy for a couple of days. Just as my tummy upset started to clear, I remembered I had forgot to replace my patch 10mg for a two days. My tummy upset cleared and came back the day after boxing day. I have taken peppermint tablets to aliviate the wind pains I am getting.
Yesterday, I recalled the time I forgot to replace my patch and removed the current one I was wearing. Low and behold, today it appears my tummy is settling down.
Has anyone else experienced this type of thing.? I did notice on the leaflet that came with the patches, it says, stomach upset and diviticulitis can be caused by wearing these.
You can't win can you?
Look forward to hearing any of your experiences.

Hi, dachshund, thanks for your reply.
I too get itchy with the patches all the time and there is redness and severe itch when I take them off.
They do help with the pain but only a little.
I am trying to see if there is a connection with my upset tummy with these patches too.

Hello Dollymixture. I was on Butrans patches for a while last year but had to come off them as I was getting very bad side effects, dizziness etc and also had a fall which I believe (although I've no way of knowing definitely) that it was caused - at least partially - by the dizziness I had. I also got the itching and a rash even though I changed the position of the patches each time I applied them and followed the instructions
implicitly. Added to all that, they really didn't do much to alleviate the pain either.

Hope you can manage to get some benefit from them.

I was prescribed buscopan for stomach cramps yesterday which eased within hours. I do get constipated too.
Yesterday evening, I renewed my patch and today the stomach symptoms have come back.
I'm sure it's down to these patches, so much so, I have now removed the new one. I did see the doctor yesterday but will go back again if I don't improve.
Just don't know the next step if I can't continue with the patches, the arthritis pain will be awful. Has anyone else suffered stomach cramps, wind and naursea while using these patches? The leaflet says you can get these upsets.

Dolly the patches made no difference to my pain. my doctor replaced them with MST continus. morphine tablets instead. Still in pain but slightly better. Be glad to get my hip replaced.... a wooden leg would do. lol
