im having problems with my lower back and hip joint - had my bloods done yesterday - phoned the rhumy nurse this morning to discuss my problems (not phoned them before) told her all my woo's etc - shes going to speak to the consultant and get back to me - told me my CRP yesterday was 25! the highest its ever been before is 13 and the normal for me is 5 so just proves that something isnt right - what do we think will happen next? x

I reckon that another blood test will be deemed necessary. Figures fluctuate, they only show the status in the body at the time the bloods are taken. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I wasn't saying it was incorrrect, I was basing my reply on what has happened to me in the past ('cos that's what I know about ). I've had CRP up in the 160s and the joints have felt OK, on other occasions it's been as low as 4 and all-hell has broken loose. If 25 is high for you then that is why I think they may suggest further bloods. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

hi ,
I wound ask for a steriod injection to help you until some other meds they give you kick in , mine last year was over 30 & my consultant said he was not to worried but they cant feel the pain so dont let they get away without giving you something0 -
Consultant wants me to see gp! - she doesn't think its an inflammatory issue even tho my crp is thru the roof x - going to get into gp's tom to c what she says!, fed up now - today isn't as bad but have a feelin tom is going to be a bad day! X0

If your rheumatologist has been treating you for a while, I'm sure she will take into account that normally your CRP is quite low, even if you have inflammation going on. It's the same for many people, they can have lots of pain and obvious swelling/inflammation, but blood levels are normal.
If you've recently had a cold, or a bug of some sort, that could easily raise your CRP above what is normal for you
See what you doc says. Hope you feel better soon.0
