Hello scoobylass. It's nice to meet you. I've got RA, too, plus the OA. I'm not quite sure how you want to 'help' yourself or even what type of consultant (orthopaedic surgeon?) you will be seeing. Could you give us a bit more to work on, please?
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hello, I have PsA which has led to OA, I see a rheumatologist for the former (and take the meds she recommends) and my GP for the latter (who supplies me with diclofenac, co-codamol and my small dose of anti-depressant). As for coping - well, we each cope in our own ways - I take life one day at a time, if stuff is bad I ease up on my limited activities, if it's good (whatever that means, says she echoing Prince Charles) I don't go overboard with stuff because it will only make things bad again. I wish you well. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Hi, welcome to Arthritis Care, I have both Osteo-porosis and recently diagnoised Osteo-Arthritis. All you can do is make sure you live your life but just listen to your body and when it says it's had enough for the day. can't do no more, listen!! And don't do no more!! As your body only knows how far you can push it.
And always write a list of questions you want to ask the G.P/Consultant so you don't forget what you wanted to say and REMEMBER TO TAKE IT WITH YOU TO APPOINTMENT!!

Welcome again to Arthritis Care, you have made the right choice joining us!! :D

Hello, Sounds as if you've got a lot to put up with at the moment and it's always hard waiting for an appointment. I've always been told to 'listen to my body' and 'pace myself' not try to push on regardless. Its hard, I know but getting enough rest when you feel tired and spacing out the things you have to do, especially if you are having a bad day and not overdoing things on a good day, is the best advice I can give. Mind you, I could often do with following it myself, as life isn't always that easy! :(

    Glad you've found the site!
    Love Sue

Keep mobile and try to exercise when possible even if its a walk upstairs a few times, its hard hun but as long as you can remain moble thats the main thing.
