Has any one had any problems with their ears? my problem started a couple of weeks ago with what felt like dryness behind my ears(always meticulous when drying), after a few days the skin was peeling off in strips and parts of my ears were weeping clear fluid and now they feel quite crusty and are still weeping. I was wondering if any one had any thoughts on what this is.................Marie xx

No idea, Marie, but I think I'd want it checked out asap as it seems to be progressing quite quickly and the next stage could be worse. It sounds almost like blisters. Do they itch?

I once took an anti-inflamm, since taken off the market, that gave me fiendishly itchy, weeping blisters on my arms. I spent at least one night with my arm dangling in a bowl of cold water. (I kept turning over and switching arms.) Get thee to a doc, Marie. It might be a reaction to some meds or something.

    Marie

Ive had where the skin behind my ears didnt peel but the skin think got a bit damp and then it went a tad crusty...If I were you for the short term id bathe in warm slightly salted water so its sterile and keeping it clean but get it checked out as sounds like a wee infection too...

    That does sound horrid Marie!
Could it be an allergy to perfume? or a new hair product, or earrings?
I do think you should get it checked out asap. These things always seem to come to a head at the weekend don't they.

I occasionally get 'crusty' ears but in my case it's within the outer ear and due to psoriasis. I have experienced crusty and weeping skin (all over) caused by eczema so yes, get thee to your GP because I think he's the one to advise on this. Please let us know how you get on, yes? DD

Don't think it's meds Sticky been on anti-inflams too long, at first I thought it was my IVIG treatment as I came out in a horrendous rash in my hands the first time I got it but I get hydrocortisone before I get it so can't see it being that, thanks for your concerns, looks like it will be the docs on Monday  xx

Eczema can start at any age, if you're out and about today pop in to see a pharmacist and ask their advice, they're knowledgeable people. Keep the area moisturised with an unscented (and if possible lanolin-free) cream and try to see the doc with dermatology experience. DD

Thanks DD will do, I have been using double base cream on my ears since this started, I am wondering if it is psoriasis as I can feel some very dry rough patches on my neck just below my hailine, I should be able to get an appointment with the dermatologist doctor tomorrow as my surgery does on the day appointments xx

Thanks again everyone for your input, saw doc this morning and he's not quite sure, apparently rash is all over the back of my neck, he has mentioned lupus and going to clinic but after the grimace on my face will go back and see him in a few weeks to see if the cream he has given me has cleared it up if it is psoriasis cream won't clear it and may have to have a biopsy done, I think someone up there doesn't like me  a wee bit peeved of at the mo, so off to do some retail therapy thanks again peeps..........Marie xx

Oh hon, that's not so good is it? At least he's trying something and let's hope it helps. I know what you mean, although life does consist of one thing happening after another it gets one down when those things are rubbish. DD

Oh Marie, sometimes it just seems like one s*dding thing after another, doesn’t it? It’s good that you did the sensible thing and made an appointment, though, as it doesn’t sound like something that is just going to go away of its own accord.

I’m sure I’d be a lot more than ‘a wee bit peeved’ in your situation but the Mods wouldn’t allow me to say how I’d really feel

I can’t imagine ‘someone up there’, or anywhere else come to that, not liking you but rest assured we do and we’re here for you.

    Marie

Have you been listening to radio two they have been discussing lupus....I know its not what you want to hear but if you get a name to it, you can tackle it/attack the beggar...

Hugs to you as its not nice is it?

Probably nothing at all, as you say, Marie, but when did that ever stop us

It does sound as if the cream will deal with any psoriasis and, if that don't work, it'll be on to Plan B.

You will handle it, whatever. And we'll be here to make sure you do
