Not sure if many of you remember me but i posted first a few years back when i was just diagnosed with Arthritis, Well been on Methotrexate and Steroids for a while now, however my steroids have caused spot outbreaks on top of back and face, i was told to come off steroids and see how it goes and swelling has come back and pain 5 weeks down the line, i am on oxytetracycline for spots but i am wondering will these antibiotics stop the outbreak of more spots aswell?
Hope you all had a good christmas and are all well

They may, I don't know. Obviously the steroids were helping with the arthritis (they usually do) but they cause their own troubles too as you've discovered. (They are also generally bad for the rest of the body, they help arthritis by thinning the inflammation but they thin everything else too, they're not selective.) Keep off them if you can, maybe it's time for a chat with your rheumatologist about the meth in case anything else can be added to help you stay steroid-free. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Rhys. Yes, I remember you and thank you, I did have a good Christmas and hope you did too. I’m pleased things have apparently gone well for you up to now.
As DD has pointed out, steroids are definitely a mixed blessing and you’ve done very well if you’ve weaned yourself off them.
I’m afraid I can’t answer your question about the antibiotics. Presumably, if the steroids were causing them, stopping the steroids will, ultimately, prevent more happening. I think your GP is the person to answer your question though pharmacists tend to be pretty good, too.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
