Have had test again for Carpal tunnel syndrome on my left hand... results again are no. Thought i would explain what it is like and maybe someone would come back with answer. I have pins and needles/tingling in my left hand... It is from my little finger and ring finger ( sometimes the next finger as well). If i rub down the outside of those fingers it is increases the tingling...kind of a numb feeling as well.. if that makes sense. This also includes half my hand...kind of numb. I also get awful like cramp on and off.. like a spasm, not all the time but get pains every day. So for example i will put my hand around my back to wash and i cannot put any pressure on my hand to wash as it hurts. I am just assuming it is something to do with good old arthur.. I have got a couple of disc in my neck that are a bit knackered and in my lower back. Also get the same feeling in both feet but not all the time. I have not pursued this with my gp it was the oncol that wanted the tests done. Any thoughts folks... and yes i am falling to pieces :):) slowly.

    Hi Lupin

I have a neurological condition and it started with tingling and numbness in my fingers which they thought was carpel tunnel to start with but as the years have gone on it has spread to other areas of my body, I think you need to see your GP who may refer you to a neurologist, good luck and keep us posted how you go.........tc............Marie xx

The little and ring fingers are not controlled by the nerve that runs through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. They are controlled by the ulnar nerve that runs through the elbow. It is probable that this is where the compression is occurring, thus causing the symptoms. Ulnar nerve compression can be caused by leaning on your elbows too often, swelling in the joint or many other things.

I have Ulnar nerve compression caused by the joint inflammation from my RA. I have 'fizzy' fingers and my little finger is almost permanently numb.

Do see your GP about it. I hope you get some answers.

Hello Lupin, that does sound like a mystery (and Scattered may have solved it). My carpal tunnel was characterised by tingling and numbness throughout all the fingers and my palms, which would be consistent with the roof of the tunnel pressing on the nerves etc. Post-op all of that malarkey has disappeared, t the arthritis is still present (obviously  ) so things are still pretty uncomfortable on that front. Scattered has posted an excellent reply and, although we're not medically qualified, it does sound like a good cause for your trouble. I hope you can get to the bottom of it soon. DD

I often wondered if I also have this in my hands with my arthritis too but after reading this I'm certain mine is just the arthritis now,I used to get a tingling in my hands and stiffness and had blood tests which came back clear like always but I felt it was more in the warm weather but since I have got arthritis in my hands and wrist I have not had that back since as of yet anyway unless maybe that was the start of my arthritis. I hope you get it sorted soon I know how hard it is in the hands like most on here too Good Luck x

Had a long chat on the phone with my wonderful Gp this morning... this was while hubby was stood with pink fluffy flashing ears on... Told the doctor who laughed and told him he may never see him again which he said was fine.. :):)
mentioned about chemo damaging nerve ending and is going to wait until the results are sent through. He said the doctor who did the test would have been looking for anything else that might be causing it.. which is great.
Going to given some vit supplyment..will let you know once i pick it up to try. Some mention of vit B was mentioned !!!!!! Also mentioned another drug that was better than Amitriptyline ...but more expensive unsure of the name. He would look at that new drug once test comes back. Very positive ... even though i dont know what it is we are heading in the right direction.
    Watch this space. :):)
