DLA Grrrrrrr. Made a claim on 25th Oct and still awaiting a decision mainly due to GP not been provided with information from hospital as I am still under tests and consultant now relying to them either as I am still awaiting tests. Spoke to DLA this morning and offered to give them OT's detailed who came to my home and have some equipment which I may add without I wouldnt be able to live here. Snooty girl on the phone then said," well you have been given equipment to assist you so you may now not be entitled to DLA"! I was fuming and replied this equipment helps but cant bring me my medication and pick me up when I fall or cook me a meal etc etc and certainly cant help me WALK or take away the constant pain.
Sorry I just needed to get this off my chest, who are these morons they employ and show no empathy whatsoever.

Frustration, Wendy. One of the main side-effects of arthritis  It always seems so unnecessary but it still keeps happeningIf at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I cant think of any other profession that would allow you to speak to clients/customers in that manner! What an utter imbecile and if thats meant to sound insulting then it is...Id have been choking on my tongue not to bite her head off!...Dont suppose you got a name of her, if I were you id call back ask to speak to manager (even if it was her and explain how upset you are by this person's actions)....
You are more than entitled to your rant my dear...
((hugs))

Thank you. I work for a county council and I wouldnt dare speak to anybody like that nor would I feel the need. Absolutely disgusted I am, if thats the person on the phones attitude to disabled people then we have no chance with the decision maker, its scary.

Exactly...If you spoke to people like that on the phone then you or I would expect disciplinary action from manager....I worked for the CPS and was dealing with criminals and their families all the time, we couldnt tell them what we liked or how we felt....
I am so sorry this has happened, keep it in a mental or written note ready for ammunition please they deserve to be shown up for what they are...IGNORAMUSES!! This is someone who doesnt give a dam so you shouldnt heistate in highlighting this bad behavouir..

Hi Wendy. How I sympathise with you as have come across that type of attitude as well. Do these people really think we actually like having to ask for help and assistance? I know I don't. I agree that the frustration of not being able to do what you want gets almost to an unbearable stage at times but the majority of people don't, won't or can't understand or even begin to try to.
Sorry if I am also ranting but as a result of making an effort and going out to meet one of my friends yesterday, I have been really suffering today and feeling very fed up with myself.
If only people would just TRY and understand, it would help and mean so much.
Hope things improve for you soon. Beryl0 -
Thanks Bery and hope your pain eases soon. We needed a new fridgefreezer after xmas so decided to pop to curry's but the disabled parking bay was about 5 shops up from curry's so I walked very slowly to the shop, normal everyday pain went to extreme pain and I have been housebound since. They are ignorant Beryl, hard to believe in this day and age with information at their finger tips they are still ignorant.0
