Grapefruit

Dear Helpline team

I was just wondering if you could explain to me why I can't eat grapefruit on several of my medications: Colchicine, bu-trans and amitriptyline (I think omeprazole too though not lanzoprazole which I am on).

The other day I accidentally ate a bit (faily large :oops: ) of pomelo - never had it before and gave it a try. Thought.....this is like grapefruit and discovered it was :?

To be on the safe side I didnt take the amatrip or colchicine and whiped off my patch :shock: Did l do the right thing?

I checked this out as I know Mr SW isn't supposed to eat grapefruit owing to his statins. It seems that it's a nono when many other meds are used. http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/2474.aspx?CategoryID=73&SubCategoryID=103
