Tartan Thermos

So there we were, sat this morning on't sofa and discussing a destination for a week's break in early February. It will be North Norfolk but which particular bit is up for negotiation. I would be quite happy to return to Blakeney but, as I reasonably pointed out, he must be bored with the walks around there as he's done them numerous times in all weathers. Cley was mooted (with the idea of being near the Three Swallows Pub (birds, not gulps)) and I said that we could go out on day trips out with a tartan thermos. He visibly brightened: 'Wow!' he said, 'going for a week away with you, a tart and a thermos.'

    and whats wrong with the pub at Blakeney, good soup at lunchtime! Could always stay over?

    Ah, Airwave! which pub? :wink: We are very familiar with the Blakeney pubs, it's the King's Arms for comfort, the White Horse for posing and The Manor (compulsory) for Sunday lunch. The Moorings (a restaurant) isn't usually open when we visit. The Three Swallows at Cley is our usual 'having to go home but we'll have one last lunch' pub, but as we've been doing that for more than ten years perhaps it is time for a change; or maybe not. :wink: If the place we would prefer to stay in is available it will be Blakeney again and there's nowt wrong with that.

    Mig, I forgot to explain that the tartan thermos is our shorthand for an 'old person's' day out' . Many moons ago 'im indoors had his car stolen (an old Ford Escort in bright yellow which was nicknamed 'The Flying Custard'). The police found it in the car park of a hospital in Great Yarmouth so my late in-laws volunteered to drive Mr DD there to collect it. This turned into a grand day out for them, involving a tartan thermos, lay-bys for a driving break and ice-creams (plus a seething young lad in the back seat). The next time it was nicked he found it about 500 yards away. Oh my, those were the days. DD

    ahh DD, I think the old watering holes may have dried up either that or the beers gone off! But that is another tale........

    Mr DD is a cheeky boy!! I hope you can agree a lovely break though.

    I am booking for myself and Husband an overnight in a health spa near me for Feb - bliss :D

    Thank you, DD. Mr SW and I have both enjoyed the 'tartan thermos' story, Parts 1 & 2. Modesty :o forbids me to mention his comment :wink:
    If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
