I'm feeling pretty down. Arthritis flaring and I'm having trouble sleeping. I have pain in all my joints including my ribs! It hurts when I breath!!

I started collecting vintage action men a couple of years ago after finding one of my old guys in my dad's shed along with an action man motorbike. If my Internet was working I'd post a picture but phone won't let me. A friend of mine having seen my collection said he thought some of his old toys were in his dads loft and that he wanted me to have them. He is brining them to me on Friday and I feel excited about that. My daughter (aged 4) and step-daughter (a 12 year old twin) also collect and love playing with mine.

So although I'm 42. Collecting these old toys cheers me up and seeing my children play with them rather than watch the TV or plugged into the computer or games console really cheers me up!!

Music! I have an extensive collection and I own lots of vinyl but mainly rare pressings or limited pressings. I'd love to own more but space prohibits! Most of it gets played with the exception of some of the rarest picture pressings.
Hey little fighter, things will get brighter

Wow lignumVitae. What a great collection. I remember my sister having . picture discs. She was into ska and two tone. Do you collectt any particular genre? I only had a small vinyl collection I played drums in a pretty poor covers band though before I had brain/spinal surgery.

Seeing my lovely Son at the weekend and seeing my friends. I spend a lot of time on my own so try to keep myself occupied with my hobbies which I enjoy, knitting - have just started another project - reading and doing jigsaw puzzles (mainly of places we've visited). Have just completed a 1000 piece puzzle of Rome which was the hardest I have ever done and feeling very pleased with myself. When it's not so cold, being out in the garden and doing some 'sitting-down' gardening in the raised beds I had made some time ago. Longing for the Spring to come so that I can enjoy my garden once again.

Also thinking about the lovely holiday have got planned for the end of the year. Have got a lovely outing planned for early next month as am going to see the 'Strictly' tour show - guess lots of you are also Strictly fans. I know it will be a bit of an effort and I shall no doubt suffer the following day, but I will manage it.

Have now made myself feel much better as there are obviously so many things I enjoy doing.

Hope you all have something to enjoy. Beryl

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

I was going to say cricket, in all its forms and it does. Anything that absorbs the attention is good for distraction and cheers one up.

However, I think DD has got it spot on. Laughter is an acknowledged analgesic. It has, I believe, actually been prescribed for some suffering from depression. It's very hard to feel miserable and self-pitiful after a good belly laugh and a shared one is even better.

"kitchen dancing" when our now grown up twins visit- they play loud music and jig with gay abandon whilst I sort of shuffle- music and laughter are the perfect tonic!

Hope you're all having a good day. :D

'fork handles' always gets me giggling...,The two Ronnies. Miranda is pretty funny too. 1000 piece jigsaw sounds amazing. Me and the family did a 500 piece jigsaw whilst away at Christmas and we thought did well!! Yep dancing, though I have two left feet and sometimes not possible if it hurts to much, playing with the kids, 12 year old step-twins and my four year old. Louis has just started making airfix models and the girls love the Action men!!! Listening to my wife play piano.... I'm sure there is lots more. I've got loads to feel cheerful about.

Thanks everyone for such great replies.

What Cheers me up? That was a hard question for me! As I do try and be positive when I wake up, I know the main thing that makes me smile and laugh is being on this site, I do try and pop in everyday (expect for when I'm on holiday or sick!) and all you wonderful people brighten up my day!! :D And I mean that! All so my very large collection of porcelain piggin figures. My collection is 102 at the moment and I love each one, but it's a bugger having to clean them! I do it by hand with cotton buds to be careful, it takes roughly 3/4 weeks! And I do enjoy music, different styles and my OH & I have a huge collection of CD's we are talking over 100 CD's we keep saying we need to sort them out and we never get round to it!!

'kitchen dancing' has to be my favourite - thought it was only me who did that...

My allotment makes me happy even though I've been able to do very little on it for the last three years. I keep chickens there and however much pain I'm in I have to let them out and put them to bed every day. However rubbish the rest of the day is I always feel a bit better when I see them bumble out and picking up fresh eggs is a treat!

You need to do whatever works! OH and I always have a bit of a giggle about how we need to roll off the sofa and stuff, there's no room for glamour!

    Nice post!
