Indeed it is. So although you should seek medical advice there is very little that can be done. It still needs checking out though.I have osteoporosis and its a not uncommon for me to pop ribs just by coughing or even putting a seat belt on. Get it checked. Ask your really good GP if he can arrange for a bone density scan for you. That would then be able to tell you if your bones are brittle.

That makes two of us with the cling film. So opstopenia can also cause this. Flipping painful I know. I fractured a couple of vertabrae and now have bones like lace!!!!! Caused by the amount of chemo I've had in the last 8 years I've been informed.Sort of nodding off now...so yes resting.

Ouch that sounds painful!!!! What is osteopenia? I've osteoporosis and broke two ribs last April. It hurt to laugh, cough or sleep. Managed to work through it with the help of pain killers and lots of rest when I wasn't resting. Good luck and I hope it settles down soon.

Osteopenia is the first signs of you leading to osteoporsis.. meaning your done density has dropped not not really low.. Got to be honest none of the pain killers i have are even touching the sides with the pain.. off to the doctors tomorrow or giving them a ring.. need some kick **** pain killers this time. Did this last year i think it was in the summer but it was nowhere as bad as this time.. hubby on diet i think or not leaning on me for a cuddle anymore.. not going through this again in a hurry...The only good thing is it has taken my mind off the other pains i have :lol: no that is not a good idea either laughing... will have to :):) instead.

Good luck with your doctor and pain relief. When I broke my ribs I was taking 4 dyhracodine and it was taking me away from the pain. It was excruciating I really feel for you.

I am not sure because i have another condition i get sent by oncol as our GP is only allowed to send you once.... if you have a drop in bone dense they put you on meds... this is down to cost of the test. No doubt it will be different from region to region.. I would ask your GP
